Looking good.

When you had the vortecs where you able to turn them all the way up? Or was it too much for the tank/sandbed?

when i had the vortechs on the back glass, they were on half power and pushing sand away from the front of the tank. When i had them on the sides, they were ok, even on higher power i just thought the huge motor sticking off the side didn't look so great.

Very inspiring bulid. Please post a pic of those wrasses in the tank! They're very very nice!

thanks, they're still a little scared. I'll definatly get some more pics where they're out and about.

my wife hates the look of the hanging light. she says it looks like something that would be hanging in someone's garage. lol. so now i have to get a canopy made. argh.

Hey here's an idea that I would like to use for my stand and canopy build. I don't know if you read this, but it was feature in an article on Reef Keeping magazine a couple of months ago. This person wanted to use his fixtures but didn't like the look of the open top, so he build this faux canopy, I think is genius!

Hope this helps!

Ya.. That won;t work for him. The ATI PM doesn't have have leg options. I'm in the same boat. My wife hates mine too.

It's a good thing she doesn't know how much i paid for it!

Launchnukes, can you get post some close up pictures of how your PM connects to your ceiling? I got a PM I'm going to be hanging soon and I'm beginning to think that they didn't send me all the pieces. I'm not sure how it attaches to the ceiling. Thanks. You're tank is looking good. Any more pics of the tank as well?

you know, it's funny, i was a little unsure of how to install them as well, no directions. lol. I can tell you what i did and try to explain it but i'm not sure if it was right. lol. if i remember correctly, the kit had a wire and a small metal cylinder with a hole in each end that screwed together, one male side, one female. Basically i screwed one end to the ceiling (by putting a screw through the hole). then i slipped the wire through the hole on the other piece. attached the pm to the other end of the wire...then screwed the two pieces together. hope you can understand. lol. i'll try to get some pics when i get some time.

oh yeah, some bad pics of the new flames. i'll get some better pics when i have more time. it's hard to get the colors of these things right.

thanks for the idea. i was actually considering something similar but we've grown to accept and like the look of the powermodule so i think i can actually avoid spending extra money for once. lol.

i think if any of our wives had any idea the money we've spent on our tank we'd all be done. lol.

updates...

I picked up a pair of dual azoo fans (they had a clean look to them) to mount up top. I plugged them into the ACJR to keep temp more stable and less wear on the chiller. I dont think it looks to bad.

Really nice tank. That canopy idea is sweet. I thought about doing that. I might have to do that. I am planning on a 120 tech in a year. You got any words of advice? This is what I am planning:
Custom stand
Alpha 170 skimmer
2XMP40
2XMP10 when my small coral colonies grow into large colonies.
ATI PM 8 bulb
Refrigerum
Enheim 1262 for a return.

I am going for a two island bonsai look. Minimal scape. I am going to go with some marco rocks and seed the rest with my current tank now. I am hesitant to put any of the rock into the new tank due to a small amount of nuisance algae. It will be a big upgrade from my 72 bow. Nice tank.

Looking good. I'm basically going the same route you have. 2 island look with the rock, you inspired me with the netting for the top of the tank (i miss keeping wrasses). I already have my 8x54 Tek fixture, just need the tank.

sounds like a very similar setup, i'm sure it'll be amazing. I agree with you on the marco. i have very little regrets about the choices i made for the tank but if i could do anything over, it would be to start with clean rock.

yeah, the net top was very easy to make. good luck hunting down a tank, the tank was the last thing i got too. lol.

so the flame wrasses have been doing great. i can't believe how much the male has colored up. he doesn't even look like the same fish. he's always swimming around flashing his colors. i think he's gonna try to become boss of the tank. what a beautiful fish.

Great tank. Tagging along. If you don't mind me asking, what camera did you get? Also, do the Azoo cooling fans help alot? I was thinking of getting some myself.
