Learning/rebuilding from my epic fail

That does look like A. Plana, or a "Crayola" plana... this is a macro of mine that I sold when breaking down my 120, growth pattern does look very similar (and coloration). Nice piece!

Well... :) got more!

Another recent Fiji. I'm hoping this will colour up..

RR wolverine. Stuffed in the back of the tank behind another coral.. If it continues to look better, I might have to find a better placement.

Raging Reef's Northwoods..

This is (was) a frag from Reef Solutions in Laval. It came out of Steph's show tank which is Led lit and completely uln. It was basically white when I got it. It became green bodied with bluish growth. But in August when I had a nutrient drop from being on vacation, the body went brown/white. It is struggling to gain colour again but still grows. Pretty sure it is A. Turaki:

Funky shot of a neat pink polyped frag from Eric. Not sure what it is..

I love that first coral and the Turakai, and the Wolverine is nice. That coral baffles me a bit though, why "Wolverine"?

I can't believe how much freaking coral you have in your tank. You're a madman.

You're going to run out of room!

You and me both, Matt.. I have no idea why that name or if there is one original RR wolverine or what it originally looked like.. This piece came from Raging Reef. The owner said that it was sent to him from Reef Raft..
If you look at Shih's thread, he has a RR Asia wolverine which looks similar but not the same.. Looks more like this piece.. But really hard to tell in all of these new 'named' corals...

Yes... Yes I am a madman. I fully admit this.
But to clarify, there is no such thing as not enough room!! I don't subscribe to such ideological restrictions!!! :)
I got these two from Aquatica on Friday. :)

And

Couldn't resist...

Oooh that first one. I want. Tank is looking great buddy. Your wolverine is looking nice... Get him out from the back

I die slowly with every pic i see buddy.......

Ouch! Thanks, I think. :)

Thanks, Mike. I'm going to leave it alone for now until I see what it'll really do.. It's clearly happy where it is right now..

That " plana" you have looks very similar to a piece I picked up yesterday.

Let's see! I think it's a pretty common coral. And always nice, which is good..

Thanks ! Awesome pictures and corals .

Thanks, Arlin. Your tank is on it's way.

That first one (granulosa?) is to die for! Nice score!!!

I don't know what it is.. Granulosa is good.. Love granulosa. I hope it'll keep its colours.. We'll see..
Speaking of keeping colour.. Here's a Fiji piece I added with the plana back in late July, I think.. Not the first photo I've posted of this guy.. Here's what it looked like when it went in:

And this is it now... Totally saturated.. Maybe more interesting now..

I don't even remember those being there. Man do they ever look different under your lighting. I can't even distinguish them!

I guess I'll need to bug the boss to bring in some more. Maybe some wild indo this time. Or maybe more Fiji! I think I have a supplier.

Glad to hear your bastard tangs are leaving the powder brown alone now!

Well, if I'm the only one buying them. He ain't gonna sell a lot. He's got to get the word out that he's getting nice sps..
Although, I do like having cherry picking rights... :)
I'm glad to see the powder brown out and grazing but the ich is still pretty bad... Hopefully they'll fight it off..

Ok here ends my weekend photobomb..
Chris, here's the Fiji I got from you in the first round. The one that I though had the most potential. It's getting some nice colours so far..

Here's a frag that has been quiet for almost two months.. Starting to grow and colour up:
Could be a red Diablo

These two have been around for a while. They have begun a turf war. We'll see where it goes.. Both Fiji from several months ago

And last but not least.. The coral that started growing first and probably the fastest grower. No clue what it is..

Well.. That was a heck of a lot of fun!
Hopefully, in a month things will look even better..

Haha. Well I have sold more than just to you. I'm going to have to advertise more aggressively on Facebook I think. Kijiji too maybe. We'll see. Reef people are nuts for that stuff.

Wow Matt, you've overtaken Biggles when it comes to coral porn. Great stuff in this thread. Keep the eye candy coming and the corals growing; TOTM is in your future. :D

Man, nice corals! Thanks for posting all the sweet pics. Glad you've stuck with it and are growin out another great tank!
Thanks, coral reefer! I'm glad I did, too. I have thought very seriously about throwing in the towel over the past few years.. I would have never been able to live with myself if I had, though..

Sahin, thanks for the very (very) generous positive comments!

Here a 'good, bad and ugly' shot..

The coral on top is the good, the ugly is all around in the form of bubble and red slime algea and the ugly is out of focus and directly below the healthy coral. It is a plana frag that for no apparent reason started to recede (like alk burn) from the tips. Only coral to really die from this. A couple others started a few weeks ago but stopped and recovered.
My only theory is my wc water which is 10% of my system. I add a few capfuls of Purple Up to it and then mix in the IO salt. It gives an alk of 14!
So, from now on I will lower alk with a small shot of muriatic acid. This weekend's wc will be the first with the muriatic acid addition...

I would love to hear thoughts, opinions in this practice- both the muriatic and the Purple Up.. I have already heard some say they think the Purple Up is cr@p..
I like the stuff...

Matt, I've never used PurpleUp but read mostly bad reports of it. Why do you like this product? What does it do for your reef?

Perhaps it's time to give up water changes;)
I agree with Sahin about PurpleUp, the best I've heard about it is that it will do nothing.
