Learning/rebuilding from my epic fail

FANTASTIC DOG MATT !!!!!

As you know I love dogs, we have five. That puppy is incredible cute and I like the white spot !!!!

Congrats to ALL THE FAMILY .

DANIEL

:) thanks, Daniel.
The breeder has a method of testing the puppy's nervousness and level of calmness. He holds the puppy and slowly turns him over. Depending on the dog's reaction, you can tell (to a certain degree) how unhappy the dog is. Of the three, this one started to wag its tail and was also very loose in the legs. He seemed very calm with the process. Besides the white spot, he was the medium sized of the three..
Cute cute cute. I wanted to get two! .. Well, not really.. :)

Someone told me those are the worst......

.......just kidding !!!! Jajaja

Sweet. I love the new dogfish you selected. I understand they are good swimmers. 😀 We have 3 dogs, much smaller than yours will be. Life seems a little empty without a canine, once I got one.

Ha! That's all I need - another little tyrant running around the house. I already have two daughters who think they are boss. :)

Thanks! It's been two or so years since I had to put my old dog down (17 yrs old) it was time to fill the space!
We will have to go out and get a crate and dog bed and all the dog paraphernalia.. :)

Ok. Got a few more before bed..
These two have been on a growth tear

And this one is getting very pretty..

I'm still holding out for better colour development on this one but I do love the growth..

OP et al..

My op is growing like an animal. But still not so orange, although in real life the polyps do have a hint of orange..

These two continue to play nice

I'll end with the fruit bowl.. It had paused growth a bit but has begun again..

Oh yeah.. One last interesting shot.. This is a relatively new addition from uncle Raja. The one below and slightly out of focus is also very interesting. Another rescue piece that took for ever to develop. I've been moving it around too much. Once it really takes off I'll take a better shot of it..

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Those dragons are nice Matt and the Blueberry Wine is looking real good! Next time you're thinking about throwing something like that out just pop a shipping label on it and send it to Minnesota ;)

Lovely shots Matt! Are you focus stacking at all, some of your shots look like it but I don't claim to be an expert on photography. :p

We had to put my dog down a few years ago at 17 as well and I've been wanting to get another since, but timing still isn't right. Congrats on the new addition!

Nice shots. The dogs complete the family. Congrats!
Thanks, Mike. We are only getting one dog, though. One's enough...

Thanks, Tim. Will do! :) I rarely end up throwing anything away, though.

Hey Josh, thanks! No focus stacking. I'd like to try it but since all my shots go from the camera directly to my phone, I haven't tried it yet. If I ever get around to really learning how to use Lightroom, I'll give it a try.
It's quite incredible how rapidly the time you allocated to dog care gets swallowed up by life once the dog is gone.
It's going to be quite an adjustment when the puppy comes home next month. It's going to be like having a baby again for a while!
It'll be lots of fun, no doubt.

Ryan i'm 100% at that dark place too:worried:
For the love of God matt....i've spent literally 20 minutes watching and watching all over again the pics! Thanks for inspiring man!

Welldone for your girls too!!
I don't know if you are responsible for the looks but they are very beautiful and even more as they grow:beer:
You're going to have a lot of trouble with boyfriends....if in the future you'll need any help discovering if they(boys) can "fly" from rooftops,balconies,etc....just say it:beachbum:

Awesome puppy too:inlove:

Things are looking great good luck with the new puppy[emoji190]
Thanks! I'm no sure what will happen to 'tank time' when the puppy arrives..
I am having an envy breakdown with so many sweet sweet sps photos.
Oh baby! Making an Aussie envious is rather satisfying!! :) thanks!

Ha! Thanks, Mike! I've already been shotgun shopping. I think my plan is to test for bulletproofness... And THEN verify if they can fly... :)

Hey Mike. I have to update my tank info.
I have 6 T5. 3 in front and 3 in back- in below image.
I have 4 AI Primes. They are between the halides.
I have aimed them outward towards the four corners of the tank to spread the light from them as evenly as possible.

I love the lights. Really nice spectrum, very easy to set up and run off my phone and easily programmable.

They are probably overkill on my system, though. Currently, I really only use the blue LEDs in them for a bit of pop and mostly only at dawn and dusk. They are practically off, the rest of the time.
Once I get to a level is stability again with nutrients and supplement adding, I may start playing with the spectrum a bit but right now, I have them pretty toned down so as to remove them from any questions about coral coloration.

I think they are sexy as heck and very good lights.

Maybe, in the name of saving money, I would have only used reefbrites but I do like having the flexibility of the primes to really tweak the overall look of the tank.

What sort of watts are we talking here? for each type of lighting?
What is your display tank volume?
NO wonder your sps looks like its growing alot.
It seems like the awesome growth seems to come from about 1.5 watts per liters of display tank volume.

The t5s are 54w.
mh 150w
led using only 4w each- like I said, I don't have them running very bright. there is a peak of 5 watts each, just as the first two t5s come on and when they run for about an hour in the evening.
So, a total of 800 ish watts.
mh are on from 11 am to 8pm with a half hour off period around 3:pm.
4 t5 (2b+ and 2cp) from 10:30 am to 9 pm
2 t5 (b+) 11 am to 10:30 pm
led start to ramp up at 8 am and finish ramp down at 11 pm
190 gallon display is 722 litres with 800 watts.. that's closer to 1.1 watts per litre.
i believe that i don't have quite enough light for some of my light lovers but on the other hand, I see light stress in some of the other not so light loving corals, like my jaw dropper that is up high.. The lower one has better, richer colours.
I also have two pink lemonades. one is up high and is in the photos next to my OP- it keeps decent yellow but I have another piece that is a bit lower and off centre and it is more green..
I really need to borrow a par meter.... I have to get on that.
My tank is also 26 inches deep and the central corals are not that high up in the tank..
I should probably have 250w mh for the light lovers.. But I don't have the room on my breaker.
I used to run the leds much higher and use the whites, but I turned them down to try to help with the light stress.. It has helped a bit, I think..

Wow.. looks like a minimum of 10 hours full 100% blasting lights.

I know I am definitely lack in my lighting - in hours.
total full power leds is about 8 hours - 240 watts
4 x 54 watts - 8 hours - 216 watts.
Sounds like 10 hours to get some pumping growth. :deadhorse:
