I finally have all the components to finish my supplemental LED build. I have a 6 foot canopy over a 6 foot tank with three 250 Watt metal halide's. I bought some aluminum hollow square stock 1 1/4 in.² and cut pieces 5 feet long. I have two small squirrel cage fans I got from television sets and they fit perfectly over the ends of the stock. These are my heatsinks. I have 15 royal blue LEDs, and 10 each blue, red, and green LEDs. All 3 W. I have read several times that red LEDs promote invasive algae. Thoughts here? Personal experience preferred skip the conjecture please. What about leaving them on a separate driver with a manual dimmer so I can turn them on and off at will for on the spot aesthetics?
