LED moonlighting from autolumination

I've got two installed on my 72 BF, and I'm noticing that my Angel is stressing when the LEDs are on at night. He's causing other fish to stress as well. Anyone else notice fishies that don't like night lights?

I'm only planning to keep mine on for a couple of hours after lights are out for a couple of hours. ie: daylights off at 6pm, actinics off at 7pm, moonlights on from 9pm till midnight. Gives me some viewing time hopefully without stressing inhabitants out. Oh, I'm also planning on running 2- 3 LED units at only 9 volts.

i just ordered 2 of the 8LEDs for my 120. They are going to replace the blue ropelights, which have worked fine for the first 8 months, but my halides got too hot apparently and burned holes through the ropelights.

i think 2x8 might be too much for a 120. I have 2x5 running on mine, and its alot of light. Istarted with 3x5 and then turned one off.

Just an FYI, if its not too late to change, I would if I were you. Mine are on a 150 cube tank.

i figured i'd order 2 and wire 1 first and see how it looks. if it looks fine, then i have the other as a backup. otherwise, i'll set them up on either sides of the tank, maybe they'll think they're on another planet or something with 2 moons and morph into something else.

I have that..... I can't find them in all the choices... what section are they in??????? I looked at every section and don't see them... Must be too early for me today....
Thanks again.....

Great thread, what is to mush LED for a 3'deep tank
With the 2x 8LEDs on either side of my tank, it looks like this, the picture barely does it justice. my tank dimensions are 5' long x 19"wide x 26"high. having them on a dimmer also allows me to regulate the phases of the "moon":

Are you saying that you have a dimmer/timer for the autoillumination LED fixtures that will automaticly mimic the phases of the moon? Or do you manually dim them according to the calendar?

Also, does the dimmer go from full bright to full dim, automaticly over a few hours each night if wanted?

I don't see a product number

Thanks,

That was the one I was thinking of. Guess now I will build a unit and then present the results to my local club.

Thanks to you all who have posted and made suggestions in this thread.

Im putting these on my 300 i will try to wire them into a moonlight controller i saw somewhere that will do it for me and i will set it up to follow the actual moon. so on the full moon irl i will set the controller to full and then set it to follow the full moon outside as well as inside. might as well try to keep it as constant as possible.,
