THANKS for speaking the truth!
I think I need to put the leopard out of my mind for a LONGGGGG while. I am one of those who believe that all fish carry "ich" and they show themselves when the fish is stressed, especially the Powder Blue Tang (but this is for another forum!). Interestingly, my three Tangs all have the spots but NONE of my wrasses or my Flame Angel.
I've got it! I need to set up a Leopard Wrasse tank!
There you go! Everything's solved! :wildone:
Yeah, don't think so.

I came home today to find all three of my female m. bipartitus out socializing with my male m. bipartitus. This new group is looking a lot better than the last one!

thats awesome! you may have already listed this but what tankmates do you have with your group?

so i just got another leopard shipped to me today, i acclimated him to the tank water for about 1.5 hrs, and he seemed to be doing good up until the MOMENT he went in the tank. as soon as he got in the tank he started acting funny and went over to one corner of the tank and just curled up and is now just laying there. he didnt even dive into the sand like my other one did. what is normal behavior for these fish when they are first introduced? and since i know this will be asked it isnt my tank params, everything is spot on except that nitrates are around 10ppm, everything else is pretty good. and keep in mind he was already acclimated to my tank water for about 1 1/2 hrs before i actually put him in.

temp 77
ph 8.4
nitrates 10ppm
po4 not registering
calcium 460

awesome to hear good news hope all stays well too ! my tinfoil leopard wrasse is eating like a pig almost to the point of him being to aggresive . time will tell but he is certainly not shy at all .

i ididnt take a sample of my shipping water which may have been my first major mistake. i ordered from LA and from what ive heard on RC generally ships @ 1.025, my tank SG is at 1.026 so not a huge differance there. i just looked in the tank (after a couple hours and the wrasse has moved but im not sure as to where exactly. hopefully all will be good because if another dies on me i wont try again. i just dont like the fact that these fish are dying while in my care.

well thatsthe weird thing, it never went into the sand. it just went into the tank and was laying on top of the sand bed. its still there this morning, breathing heavy but alive. i really doubt its going to pull through at this point.

I have been considering trying to keep a leopard wrasse (probably meleagris) in my new tank when I get it up and running. They require a deeper sand bed, however I keep reading that DSBs should not be disturbed. This seems like a catch 22 to me, they fish require a DSB, but you shouldn't keep them with a DSB because they will disturb it. How has this worked out for people who are keeping them?

They require a couple of inches which in my book is not a DSB. Mine (4) always go to the same place.

My male ornatus is still putting around. He still swims in the corner of the tank between foraging, so I'm hoping he eventually settles into the tank and starts harassing the purple tang:D. I got him on 9/19, so working on a month and a half. Not through the woods, but feeling a lot better about it:). I've been unable to pass on a few other small wrasses (McCosker's and two other small ones I haven't identified yet-thinking C. rubriventralis, so I'm slowly building a community:). Gotta love wrasses,

Did you get a bipartitus or meleagris?

Updates:

Day 14 for my BlueZoo order. 1 of 3 surviving. Status:

Female Bipartitus: Dead
Male Meleagris: Dead
Male Bipartitus: Alive and eating well (mainly blackworms).

Day 4 for my LiveAquaria order. 3 of 4 surviving. Status:

Female Meleagris: Dead
3x Female Bipartitus: All are alive and eating. Not interested in black worms, or large (PE) mysis. Eating smaller mysis, constantly hunting on live rock.

If I can go with a 4 in 7 survival rate, I will consider myself very fortunate...

i have female bipartitus. i just checked on mine and it is out cruising the tankand eating live brine like it's going out of style! feeling much better about its chances now than i was yesterday. here's hoping it pulls through in the long haul.
