Has anyone had a Melagris turn male lately/yet? My pair of females are doing great, 6 months in the DT now.

i have a couple M. meleagris .. bought first a few years ago as woman but she turned as male two years ago...so i bought a second female two years ago.

at the moment i have 1 couple M. meleagris, 2 females of M. Bipartitus and 1 female of M. negrosensis in a 132 gallon tank... the only wrasse with them is a mystery wrasse... the mix is going well and i am looking for a second M. negrosensis female but they are hard to find here.

Hey, just got my first leopard wrasse. I've been researching them and this guy showed up at the lfs. He was just too pretty to pass up.

Anyway, he's acclimated and out and about. He's pecking at rods food, and grazing.

Yes. He is a moyers. I'm really happy that he is getting along with my melanarus. They follow each other around like a pair.

Nice! Yea my male Melanarus is fine with my leopards including both Moyers! Keep us posted on how he is doing! I have 4 other leopards....two blue stars, two Melegris, and two Moyers. All added at different times, but they all get along great!

Looks like the mouth has some damage. Hopefully it will heal up if it's eating ok. Just keep an eye out for infection.

Thanks. I will keep an eye on it.

He's doing really well. Eating just about everything.

I think his mouth looks ok now. The shape of it just seems small. He really prefers the really small pieces of food.

But he's out every day and is always hunting for food. He keeps shorter hours than the rest of my fish, so it scares me every day when everyone wakes up and he's not out yet for a couple of hours.

The most beautiful of the Leopards, Macropharyngodon negrosensis, or the Black Leopard. Mood dependent, the male Leopard have florescent aqua-marine color scale edges. IMO, there is no rival in the Macrophangodon Genus.

Leopard wrasse experts... is a two spot candy hogfish likely to give one or more leopard wrasses trouble in a 180?

I have one established leopard (meleagris) in the tank, looking to add 2-3 more. Picked up a bipartitus, but also picked up a small candy hog at the same time. So far the candy hog is already being a bit of a jerk to the bipartitus in QT, but it's only been a day.

I don't want the candy hog to mess up my leopard plans, wether that means messing with the current established one that is doing well, or stopping me from adding more in the future. He'll go in the frag tank if he's going to be an issue.
