Hadn't read the thread in a while and just caught up. I saw the discussion around prazi pro dosing and thought I would comment.

My LFS told me they were losing a high % of blue tangs to some sort of internal parasite. They started adding prazi to the food and the survival rate went up to close to 100%. I started doing the same with all my fish. While I personally do not have evidence/proof it works, i see no ill effects on my fish and have not lost any to related parasites. I add about 3-4 drops to about 2 oz of water and let the food soak overnight.

I was thing of adding one of these guys, Halichoeres melanurus , what ya think? Would I have to do another 2 rounds of Prazi if I do? This would be something a few months down the line.

I have had 2 of the regular leopard wrasses (not the African one or the smaller one, dunno of any others) and both lived about 3-4 years in my tanks. Both were sold to other aquarists and for all I know could still be alive right now. I think my secret to success was that my tanks were reef tanks with a lot of live rock, and also I fed heavily. This allowed the wrasses to get lots of natural food from all the live rock plus all my supplementary food. Both of mine I got directly from wholesalers and went straight into my main display, no quarantining or time spent at the LFS. Both also accepted my prepared foods within days of introduction. One was in a 40 breeder, the other a 90.

A friend of mine has also had one in her 155 half circle for about 2 and a half years now and it is fat and happy.

you have the key to sucess IMO . right into the display tank with no QT ,plenty of live rock packed full of pods ! nice and easy .

+1. This has been my experience thus far. Both of my leopards are still fat and happy. I feed an enormous amount of food everyday. Thank God I have an oversized skimmer.

I have a black leopard and a chaoti wrasse and The secret is finding someone whose successfully kept them alive for a year and convincing that person to sell them to you.LoL but seriosly thats what i did

Do leopard wrasses ever stop eating? Belly is bulged but seems to always want food. Don't want to pollute tank with too much food.

Can't wait to see! Is this opening the doors for non-leopard specimens???

do you treat your tank with prazipro with EVERY wrasse addition? or just with certain species like Leopards?

Yesterday I went to my LFS and saw this very cool looking little leopard wrasse, so I purchased it. I'm not quite sure which type it is. Can anyone identify this one for me? Here are the pictures. I was lucky enough to get a shot of the new wrasse with my female bipartitus that I purchased last week of December.

I was about to say this: It looks like a female bipartitus in the process of changing to a male. I think you will have a pair very soon.

But upon further looking I think you have Macropharyngodon ornatus. Either way beautiful fish.

Appears to be M. ornatus (Ornate Leopard)

Thanks guys. I am pretty sure you are correct. If you look at the fish it has the black spot at the base of the pectoral fins. I was just looking at this article...
