a ton of full size live brine fortified (gut-packed) with selcon and cyclopeeze.

however, the best think to do is call or email (better still, face book), and ask Kevin what exactly have those 2 fish been eating.

By now, he should say PE Mysis (get on line at Dr. F&S if none local), Hikari Spirulina brine shrimp with selcon, and maybe something else.

I've got a 120g with a 30g refugium packed with chaeto and a 25g refugium with live rock and a 20g sump. I've got fine sand- bigger than sugar sand, but still fine. I believe it is Caribsea Aragonite Select or something like that.

I've got PE mysis, the smaller mysis, black worms, Rod's food, spectrum pellets, flakes, and pretty much everything else I need (the LFS is around a mile from my house). I typically soak frozen foods in a combination of Garlic Xtreme, Selcon, and Vita Chem, and I dose my main tank with PraziPro to keep the fishies parasite free.

Definitely excited about these two new visitors!

So, did they arrive safe and sound? Now the clock starts . . . once you have them for a couple of months, you should be in pretty good shape.

well not to take any wing out of your sale ,i just got news that two choati's are comming tomorrow ! so we can do this together ,lol . well again the journey begins and time will tell .gonna but them in a larger tank this time and maybe that will help ,ya never know . i wish you the best and hope all goes well with them .
Dave

the store that i help at is getting them in for me . they are a bit less expensive cause i gat them in the original bag and they are sight unseen . the last time i got one it came in great shape but its hairy at best for the first month . them darn parasite are the biggest hurdle IMO . prazi pro for everybody in the tank is the only way .

well all that i can get! ummmm i have 12 leopards now and a few tamrins but its that nearly impossiable choati that i have had extreem difficulty getting to survive ,im on a dozen of them when mine come in tommorow .i will take a moment in an hour to name them ,im playing poker right now and gotta get back .

While initial eating of frozen food e.g. PE mysis, is key, the thing to look for is whether or not they are hunting. If they are, that is a very good sign. But internal parasites are usually the deal breaker, especially with M. choati.

mine better be good clean hunters . i did say i was gonna wait till i got my 300 gal up and running but i am addicted and have no power over this . i may need an intervention soon but my wife backs me 100% so whats a man to do ? she was the primary reason for this purchase she said its my christmas present but i had to turn her down and get them myself because i have about a 5% chance here .

I think you are improving your odds by taking them directly out of the shipping bag. Good luck, hope they do well!! They are definitely cool fish!

its pretty futile if you ask me steve but the odd have to be getting better the more i get . by the time i get one that lives i will have thousands invested . is that crazy or what ? i could have has my house recarpeted from one end to the other ! really this is what i want so i just hope i get it right . i really think its also the collection and holding facility that is hurting the most ,then theres the parasites . it just never ends ,well thanks for the vote of confidence and i will keeo ya posted ~

I agree with you on this!

So my little fishies showed up today- bag water was about 72 degrees, they were packaged BEAUTIFULLY, just as you guys said. I acclimated for a little over two hours- temperature, salinity, pH. They were probably the two most active fish I've ever received in the mail- the male is HUGE and everytime I heard him jumping in the bucket I thought I was going to have a heart attack. It was a relief to get them in the tank.

They buried almost immediately, and have remained buried. I'm very hopeful for these two- both were super active and looked great. The male is one of the biggest leopards I've seen in person, and the other was one of the smallest. Quite the couple. Let's hope tomorrow brings good things!

iamwrasseman... I wish both of us luck! :)

but what can we do to rid ourselves of this obserd delema ? they sell them reguardless of me so i haveto try . a very small few have made it as is shown here in this tread and i really think its mostly the collection process and then they are housed and starved for weeks before we get them . ahhhhh i just have to try because the reward will be great if i am successful .
