sorry it is from the East coast of africa and the madagascar reefs and supposed to be not all that uncommon in those waters. I guess it is also being refered to as the madagascar leopard wrasse. Hope this was worth mentioning here!
 
Im sorry, I hope this is not annoying any of you all! Apperantly after a little more poking around this madagascar leopard wrasse just looks like a kuiters leopard wrasse. I guess the people on the other site have not seen these before or are not used to seeing them from africa or something. Blue zoo says that they come from the coral sea. They look beautiful and I'm interested to know if anybody knows anything about them because blue zoo lists them at an "easier" care level than all the other leopard wrasses. Any info would be great. My male is out longer everyday and I get my pe mysis tomorrow, unfortunately right before leaving town. Oh well. No sign of the female but I guess I still have hope after 25 days. For all those other newcomers to the leopard wrasse family it to 22 days for my male bipartitus to make his emergance from his sandy bed, so give them time and dont give up hope. Also to the experienced keepers on site; do these guys really come out to die? Someone earlier in the thread said that this happens 99% of the time and it would be nice to know if this is true because it would be comforting just to know if she is "with us still". We've hardly meet and I miss her already! Thanks again
 
macropharyngodon vivienne is one I have been looking for. It is not uncommon where it is found, but I have not seen it for sale in American markets. Very pretty fish.
 
it has been said that they have been coming in in kenyen shipments. search madagascar leopard wrasse to see what I was talking about but the pic does not look much different from the kuiters pics that are out there.
 
To update on the meleagris female that I picked up ~one month ago... Well, she didnt make it. I would see her for less and less time in the middle of the day (and not every day), although she did take both PE mysis and live brine when out. I didnt see her for a couple of days and then found her dead on top of the sand bed :(

i have had very good results with treating the display tank with prazi pro .its simple and eliminates both the external and internal parasites with simple dosing . its cheap and effective as i have had very little deaths since i started using it . the only fish that i have lost have been the choati leopards and i do not attribute their demise to parasites or worms either.
on another note i just received my tracking number for three potters leopards coming directly from Hawaii and i am very excited as they have been relatively difficult to find . its the first time ordering from this place and i hope they come in good condition as it will be Friday morning when i will receive the shipment . they sent them out a few hours ago and the potters are poor shippers to begin with so I'm a bit concerned on the prolonged shipping but im crossing my fingers . has any one ordered from wet pets in Honolulu Hawaii ? any thoughts on acclimation being that they are being in the bag for 36 hours or so . my gut instinct says to temp acclimate only and i have had good luck in doing so ,that may be my best option IMO .
 
:spin1: well my potters trio came in yesterday and the male was DOA then one of the females was dead this morning . the third is doing great and already eating PE and frolicking around like she owns the place . they came directly from Hawaii and it was a long trip as the bag water was really bad . i mean really bad ,sewer type ya know but hopefully one will be able to survive . she adds a whole new color to the leopard tank and here is a shot of her today . :spin1:

Before they were even shipped I advised the customer that Potters Wrasse has a poor survival rate during shipping and It will be like pulling the slot machine on them. Well gotta take the good with the bad on this one.They were packed in a lot of water the package was heavy and expensive to ship out of my pocket. Anyhow a full refund has been sent on the two Potters Wrasse. I am bummed about the fish not making it. Best wishes to you Dave.
 
just for the record les i meant nothing malicious by my comments and apologize if in out of place for stating facts . here's another i have had 6 potters come in for me at my LFS and every one was DOA except one and he was breathing but had no signs of being able to live .as we all know of their shipping record and it seems to be about 10%to 20% as they just don't make it very well in shipping . also when we open bags from shipping they always smell very pungent and im sorry for my use of words as i did word it a bit harsh and also didn't mean anything bad by it . the fish that i received came in as expected by be as i know what 36 hours will do to a shipped fish and yours actually did well . i do understand that it is a crap shoot as you can understand if you read this whole tread as i have been involved with it from the start . again i am happy with the fish that i received and meant nothing malicious by my comments and am truly sorry for my comment and i do understand that i could have worded it better . i would do business with you again in the future and did plan to if its any consolation.
 
thanks ,she is doing great and is a great addition to my leopard tank .the fish is exactly what that tank needed to be semi comlete ,if i could only get a choati ti survive that would be great but i have had no sucess with that elusive leopard .again i would like to thank les for the beautiful fish and am sorry for the comments that i made as i would certainly like to do business with him again .
 
thanks ,she is going great and eating like a pig as she really like the pe mysis .i hope the best for you with the MM and hope all goes well . do they have them in stock now ?my lfs gets then on the list but i just leave them be cause i have a few myself .
 
I had one for a couple years before I broke down my tank. I made sure it went to a well established tank with a sand bed. The tank had a lot of red planaria and the wrasse took care of it all. Didn't think it was going to make it out of quarantine so I took the risk and just put it straight into the tank. It thrived ever since.
