Bill ,i have had so much better results with the potters to the point where i consider them easy but still a challenge . the choatis are really tough though and should be left on the reef IMO.i have a couple of them that are years old and doing just fine . they are great community fish IMO.it boils down to how they were collected and transported IMO. i certainly wish you the best and please do keep us posted

Thanks Bean & Dave. A LFS here has 2 huge ones & I'm sooooo tempted, but gonna do the responsible reefer thing & move my tank & let it mini-cycle first. Less stress on those sensitive beauties...

Really? What's your secret, Wrassewhisperer...? :lol2: My other favorite LFS here won't even order them anymore; says their survival rate is dismal...

i have had great success with introducing them directly to the display tank . they simply cant handle a QT for any period of time and they are poor shippers . we get ours from Quality Marine and they do very well shipping them so it takes the initial stress away from the fish and the rest is up to them in the display tank .

Yea, all my wrasse go directly into DT, with prazipro treatment...Hopefully next time will be the charm with third Potters...;)

Still no sign of my bipartitus at 2.5 weeks should I give up hope, if not does anyone know what they do in the sand for that long?:sad2:

Don't give up hope, but don't dig in the sandbed for her. If you disturb her, that's just more stress that she doesn't need right now. I've had them stay 'sleeping' for upwards of a month (& I think Dave/Wrasseman has too). She may be coming out during the night when you're asleep & picking at rocks then. You might feed some PE mysis just before you go to bed, in case she does come out in middle of the night & is hungry. Their time schedule is completely opposite ours for awhile & it takes them time to adjust. Just let her be...Good luck!

btw, Dantdodge-How's Pensacola these days? I'm from New Orleans & had MANY a fun time in Pensacola...What I can remember...;)

Hey Bill I dont know if you remember but I met you at Faois. I am nates little brother I actually just moved down here permanently in Tampa. I purchased this particular wrasse at Faois it was there for like four weeks eating no one had got him so I purchased him. She went straight to the tank I have set with my live rock temporarily till I pick my tank up from felix at reef savvy after macna. She was eating mysis PE and hikari out for about three weeks went and hide for a week came back out for couple more weeks then just poof gone. I just worry.... Pensacola dont get me started Bill I have had some fun times there and New Orleans from what I can remember lol... But I was up there for five years going to school and took a long break and now I am here In Tampa finishing up. Thank you also Dave for the reassurance!!

Of course I remember meeting you & the gf with Nate at FAOIS that day. I bet Nate's happy you're here, too. Glad to see you've picked up the wrasse bug...They're awesome fish. Keep us posted on her hiding & any questions you may have. Hope she surfaces for you soon.

My male bipartitus is large, over 4". One of my meleagris's is also getting large, still in female coloration but is getting some green to her. I'm seeing aggression by the male bipartitus about 30 minutes before the lights go off, he chases her and nips at her. During the day nothing. During feedings nothing. Is there a reason he's getting agro before he goes to bed? Will I need to take the meleagris out of the tank eventually, or will that aggression curb it from becoming a female?

Hey guys, I've got a quick question for you. When I set up my tank I got a pretty fine substrate knowing I wanted leopards. But, In the next year I plan on upgrading to a 180-300 gallon tank. I'd like to get the "Package" from TBS but I'm concerned that the substrate may be too coarse for the leopards. What are all of your thoughts on it?

I am frustrated.

I have a HalichoerEs Claudia which is dominant

A she-male MM Leopard
Female MM leopard

Male Potters Leopard

I put in a male Ornate Leopard Saturday, and the Christmas Wrasse is doing it's usual (but all others have learned to deal with him), but my Potters and she-male MM is acting extremely aggressive where the Orate comes out and in minutes buries in sand for the rest of day...I observed it today coming out, immediately I fed; I believe it got some food but not sure. It is still buried...Argggg

hey Ralph i would just give them some time and see what happens but i will say that sometimes just adding "one more fish" can upset the entire balance and you may end up with a mess on your hands .
'best wishes my friend

Yeah when I added a juvie MM to my Bipartitus harem the male went nuts and killed one of his females, the new MM, and then himself.
