Let there be uv light question

hello, i just purchase coralife turbo twist 18 watt uv for my 75 gallon tank. questions for you experts out there, how often do use your uv sterilizer or how long do you leave them on per day?
btw, im gonna be using this to kill parasite like ick and water clarity as well...

My personal opinion is to leave it on......some others might disagree. But it may extend the life of your UV sterilizer globe, rater than turning it on and off several times a day. Leaving it on should defiantly help your itch problem and defiantly help with water clarity. I have mine running all the time, about the only time I turn it of is when my snails are spawning. I have not had a problem with it.

I think almost everyone I know that runs UV leaves it on except for maintenance. Turning it off for protracted periods would also invite bio-fouling, reducing effectiveness.
