Nice. Thats not a bad price at all, being half the price of a used Tunze Wavebox. Kinda curious how that does work through out the tank. It looks like it has nice surface agitation, but I wonder how deep that effect goes.

The Xenus can't really compare to the Tunze wavebox. The wavebox puts out a ton of flow, and the Xenus just creates surface agitation, doesn't really create beneficial flow. Still it seems cool, especially if it adds some glitter with T5s...what can I say, I love gadgets.

I'm really curious to see if it will add any glitter. Thus far, the T5-only tanks that have been able to add glitter have been smaller tanks - i.e. they don't run many watts of T5's. I have 16x39w worth, and I've tried various high-powered LED's, but I think the high wattage still washes out the LEDs. Since you also have a lot of wattage, this will be very interesting.

If that truely adds shimmer with T5s, MH will be the next PCs lol. The #1 thing people love about Mhs are the shimmer. Curious to see how this looks with the T5s. wheres the fully stocked pic? lol

Joe - the concept makes sense. adding enough surface agitation to produce shimmer. For example, when I only have my actinics on, I get some shimmer because I have pretty good agitation from my Tunzes. The Xenus adds waves.

Yeah, the concept makes sense. Lets see the production though. Im sure itd do wonders for MH, but for T5s, this will be interested. MAkes me really wish I went T5s now lol.

Nice MCLiffy. Glad to see you have your tank. You guys with regular sized "mermaids" get great shots at this point. Mine is 6 foot three and makes my tank look like a fish bowl! (don't tell her I said that).

Hey man this is going to be a great tank. I cant wait to see some fish and corals in there. This is going to look so nice. Love the idea of the bar. I also love the idea of the aquascape i think the fish will love that. When you do the one against the wall try to make a lot of holes so the fish can go in and out of it i think that would make it look even cooler. The rocks in the middle will also look very nice and there should be a lot of room for the fish to swim around should be a great build i will be following along on this one.

I'm busy plumbing and filling with water...its about half full, and I've done a "soft" plumbing (no cement yet). I'm cleaning up the hundreds of random pvc parts that are all over the place so its presentable for pics....I'll update later tonight (thats digital aquatic speak for tomorrow ;) ).

speaking of updates Joe, havent you had a tank sitting there with everything but the plumbing for a month now? ;)

No no no. I dont have the plumbing, the RODI machine (gotta order that right now, you just reminded me). And then I have to do this side room. My small 190g tank update turned into a tank build, along with a room refinish. I was going to turn the spare bedroom into a fish and computer room. But the floors are hardwood, and elevated off of the foundation. So this has to go in the side room where its flat on the ground. I dont know what Im gonna do with the side room, but currently theres no carpet or flooring. I may just paint it black and finish with a few coats of clear of some sort.

Wait, this is about YOU lagging, not me ;)

Heres the update...finished the first run through of plumbing. I'm going to sit on it for a day or two, get some input, make any necessary changes, then get the cement out.

Just one comment - on the short run from the green-handled ball valve to the 'Y', can't you replace all of those fittings with a short segment of spa flex?
