not yet, either the hole is too big or the gasket is warped...I just talked to Savko and they are sending me a replacement gasket, hopefully that will do the trick. The consensus seems to be the gasket is warped.

Now on to the other, and probably more annoying problem. My snapper return is making incredible amounts of noise, which is very likely due to elbow I installed between it and the sump....see the directions don't say anything about not installing an elbow, but then you go to troubleshooting, after its installed and you have a noise problem, THEN it tells you not to put an elbow near the inlet. It might require reorienting the frag tank as I tried to fit it in with a straight run and it just didn't work...which means, oh joy, I get to re-plumb the return...again.

And I am done!!! Wow this is a long thread :) I knew you had some issues with getting the tank, but I did not realize you had this much! Pics don't do the tank justice.... It looks great in person.

wow brandon, you are seriously patient to make it all the way through. :)

so good news, the plumbing is fixed. I wrenched the heck out of the bulkhead - know you arent supposed to but it worked. Also got my light hung from the ceiling and will have pics of that up soon.

so the bad news, my snapper is causing a ruckus...I went thru all the troubleshooting for it, and redid my plumbing on the return (again) to eliminate an elbow before the inlet. That greatly increased the flow its putting out, but it still makes a racket. I'm seriously considering purchasing a red dragon - since I live in a loft the noise is particularly annoying, so I think it might be worth it for the silence. (of course that would mean re-plumbing my return, yet again, but by now I'm good at it :) )

out of curiosity, did you try using short lengths of spaflex to and from the ball valve for the snapper?

from what I've heard it makes a big difference.

if you dont have any, I have a shitton of 1, 1.5 and 2" spaflex and I didn't use :) Id be happy to send a small section.

I don't have 2" spa flex, so I didnt try this. Unfortunately this noise is on the level (like you walk in my house and it sounds like a factory), could it really make that much of a difference?

Redoing plumbing is one thing I never look forward to. I finally learned to have a plumbing supply cabinet... so at tleast I don't have to go to menards every time I screw something up!

Looking forward to mroe pics.

Hey Mike, how loud is that snapper? Thats just your return pump, right? People complain about Mag drives, but I have a mag 18 as my return, and I cant even hear the thing. Maybe its muffled by the insanely loud sound of my overflow though lol. The 18 is too much for a return, so I just put a T in it, so I could recirc it to my skimmer, and send some to my future fuge section.

Some pics...made a slight change to the aquascape and got the light hung up.

jflip - reeeeeallllly LOUD.

Another question - now that I've got the Reeflo tuned, there is a significant amount of water going through it, and I was told that I shouldnt submerse the output because of the back pressure it would create, but the water crashing is pretty loud, any suggestions for quieting this down?

oh yea, and some more pics, I think the first one shows well why I moved the one rock to create a nice open space between the rock tower and the rock pile.

that cap is going to ripped out and given away as frags - it would probably be ok, but I want to keep the back glass clean.
