I'm not sold on the gyre method. Sure you can probably generate faster flow but why?
I'm all about turbulent flow and not really concerned with the amount of turnover I have. As long as the polpys are moving and moving in all directions, I'm happy.
mcliffy2 has seen my tank so this is old news to him but for everyone else, I'm using 4 SeaSwirls that I've attached 3 modded Tunze 6025's and one SEIO 1100. These along with my return really break up the water pattern in the tank and get things moving. I wouldn't say that the tank is boiling but the movement is dynamic and the acros really seem to enjoy the chaos.
