mskurdah - thanks, I'm with you, but I've also been told by those that are a little taller than me (and can see over the tank into the fish room), it doesnt look as good from their vantage point. so I'm torn on this....

nice net, where did u get that stuff?
Yesterday I went to lowes looking for netting with a 1/4" gap (somebody told me I could find it there), but the smallest I could find was 1/2" (they had some metal nets 1/4" but of course that would be bad).
I could just double layer the 1/2" stuff I guess.

doh nm the last question... looks like vortecs. but why the different colors?

Yup, that is the vortechs. The orange means anti-sync from the master, white is sync with the master, and the yellow is on the master, and means its in reef-crest mode.
As for the netting, a local reefer (Sullyman) hooked me up, he bought it in large quantities (like 400 sq. ft. min order I think). I've heard there is bird netting that is black that works almost as well, that they have at some Menards or Lowes. The stuff I used is clear garden netting (from Sullyman) with a screen frame kit I got from HD.

JR - Thanks much. I'm really liking the RKE...it seems very expandable, and DA was really responsive when I had problems setting up (very stupid ones, like not taking the cap off the ph probe
). Posts on their forum were answered within 10 min. Can't imagine having paid 2-3k for a profilux setup, when my whole RKE setup is going to come to about 1k, and will do everything Profilux does.
Brandon - The CA reactor is scheduled to be delivered on Thursday. The frag tank is plumbed and I mounted the light for it yesterday. Now I just need water...that may be a few days away as I've had an ich outbreak. No casualties yet and everyone is still eating, but I'm changing out as much water as possible to help them along (about 10% every other day), so my water making power is going towards that.

I've added a few fish...but I think it has been in my water column for quite a bit of time. I attribute it to added bioload + new tank stressing the fish out. All of them had a nice garlic meal this morning tho, and the cleaner shrimp is doing his job well, so I'm hoping it will be ok.

Just a couple specs on the PBT - now the fish he beats up on are a different story
He is the ruler of the tank, and does not take kindly to new introductions. I've started putting a large mirror in front of the tank when I introduce new fish. Its very comical, he is so irate at seeing "another" PBT he attacks the glass for hours on end.- Status
