I was over there this weekend and the chairs are pretty comfy, and just the right height. Those pics really don't do it justice though. The tank is awesome!!! I can't wait to see it when all of his plans/projects are completed.

Great work Mike!

Thanks all.

The stools were a tough decision. I wanted something that was stylish but subtle, so as not to detract from where your eyes are supposed to be...on the tank! :) Also, having a back on the stools was not an option, because a lot of times I view the tank while sitting on my couch and a back would block this view.

So now, my RKE is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I'll be ready to automate...but wait, I still need a CA reactor. I'm thinking the AquaC RX-1 for a combo of price and performance. What do you guys think?

Granted I don't know much about CA reactors... I have only heard good things about the GEO Reactors. How do they stack up against these guys?

I have wanted one of the AquaC rx1 since the prototype were released. I really like the design and should perform as well as it looks. I don't think you will have trouble of anything distracting a viewer from your tank. Where did you pic up those stools from?
Keep us informed on the RKE, I ended up with the ACjr because I could wait any longer. I hope it works as well as it was marketed.

Mike, I think Im gonna go that aquac route too. Mpoletti uses it, he seems impressed, and encouraged me to buy one even..

Brandon - From what I can tell and have heard, GEOs are proven and reliable. But I also hear they are not that efficient because they don't do any recirc (ie they work like a fluidized reactor). The AquaC is recirc, has an eheim pump, and is about half the footprint and height of the equivalent GEO. Also, I like that the AquaC doesn't require a feed pump (the eheim it comes with feeds and recircs). On the flip side, not many people have the AquaC, only MakoJ has it, but he seems to really like it (his 180 on the large tank forum is pretty sweet).

What I'd really love is that Aquacare, but the model 2 is rated for 250, and the model 3 is rated for 700, so my tank is a tweener...and the model 3 would end up running me like $1400-1500, yikes!

JR - Mike really sold me on the AquaC when he was planning to carry them, but now it doesn't sound like he will be carrying them.

another option I just came accross is Reeftek: anyone have experience with these: http://reeftek.com/

Yep :) I like it better than my Presision marine and my korallin. No experience with a geo and I doubt that I ever will. I got the the output of the AquaC up to 50+ when I was playing around one weekend. Greg told me that it can push over 60 :eek1:

Even though they do not require a feed pump, I would recommend feeding any reactor to keep steady pressure going through your reactor. HTH

mpoletti - thanks much.

I just took the plunge and ordered the AquaC RX-1. S*lty S*pply has a deal going now for 10% off, so it was $645 for the whole RX-1 package plus they threw in a free Salifert MG test kit.

Last night I got the frag tank soft plumbed, so now I just need to get a pump to get it up and running, pics later this week.

I think you will be happy with it. Greg (Gcarroll) has an AquaC RX and really likes it too.

The package came with a 10 lb CO2 tank, and to be honest I'm not sure the type of media. I didn't quite put my normal amount of research into this purchase :)

Outstanding bar! where's the bartender??!!

I'm no chemistry major or engineer - but I think most of the quality reactors will perform about the same. I bought a dual chamber octopus - got it running yesterday so we will see.

Skimmers/lighting/current are different though in my opinion.

Sweet deal :) FWIW, I used a mixture of koralin and elos media

10% off huh? Thats an awesome deal, I need to get me that package.... but I guess I need some money first. Maybe a 60g set up and some BMW headlights, and it will be mine lol.

Can you explain this 50+, 60? What exactly does that mean?

Thanks!

I just noticed for the price on salty supply, the smaller Geo that is rated up to 350g comes out to $630 with a 10 lb CO2 cylinder. Geos are supposed to be the "best", curious if that would be the safer/better route to go.

The tank looks great! When i get back into Chicago I would love to swing by and check this setup out.

Ill pay with frags for admission, if that's alright with you. :D :p
