STill looking awsome. Is that sand blown around from a pump?
Btw you have awsome view!

Thanks much. Yea the sand is blown around because one of my WWDs gave out, so I cranked up the other 2 vortechs to compensate while its being repaired. That changed the flow patterns and blew it bare. I'll push the sand back and take some better pics this weekend.

I have heard that a thin layer of coarser sand and a few sprinkles of rubble rock in trouble spots can help keep the sandbed in place.

tank still looks awesome without the fish.

Still looking great. Keep strong man. If you do you will relize how much being strong it was worth. Happened to me i almost put my tank online for sale. But then i said i am to far into this to stop know. I didnt stop went to being really patient and went from there. Know my tank is doing great and havent had any problems for about 2 months.

WOW i love this Reef-Bar!!!amazingly done real nice taste with everything outside and inside the tank!!!!

Hey man. There is defininitely some Ich going around Chicagoland LFSs. I have had some fun with that too.

I made a nice fish trap with some suction cups from two maxijets and a 3 gallon clear plastic RO/DI water jug from the Jewel. I was able to extract a tang and some other hard to catch fish with this. You can put it near the surface and drop food into the little hole. Feed exclusively through this and your fish will learn to go in there quick. Works much better and is much safer than glass or acrylic traps because it is so light.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but, you tank looks awesome!

Dude! your tank is freaking nice. I was looking at your isketch at first and thought to myself...it cant look this good in the end..so i skip up to the last pages and wow! its identical. You did a super job with everything! I really like that light fixture too.. how are you liking it? does 12x54 give good coverage??

Love the tank Mike. I will definitely have to make it down there sometime to check it out. Sorry about the fish problem this summer. Hang in their brother. There is many more fish to come. I have been keeping fish since I was 4, almost 31 years and have to say I have lost a lot of fish in that time. Some were my fault and others I guess it just was their time. A lot of people feel the opposite by I enjoy the fish first. Don't get me wrong I love the coral but I think from here on out I will design a tank around the fish I want to keep and fill it on with some coral. Coral can tend to be much more of a pain in the ***. When a tank crashes the fish are typically still around. They tend to make it through the longest.

I have had very good luck with fish over the years. I still have the first two marine fish I ever bought. 14 years ago and 15 year old clowns they are. They have been through others taking care of them for 2 years and 1 year. Man what a mistake. My Black Tang has been in a tank for almost 10 years. I Glenn over at Advanced Aquatics watch him for 4 years and he gave him back when I started the 156g. This Black Tang has had ich 4x in 9 years and possibly more when Glenn was watching him. Bought him silver dollar size and intend on keeping him for a long time... I know still I will lose a lot of fish but its the one's that make it through that you end up appreciating the most.

Shoot me a PM some time and we can talk fish. I have some good pointers for you to prevent them from taking a turn for the worse.

Hang in their bro... Sweet thread... Loved the build...

bubbletip - thanks much. Fortunately things are turning for the better. I've added a few fish and they've been in there for 2-3 weeks and seem healthy, knock on wood. I'll probably add another this weekend. Old town may be getting in a sargassum trigger next week, I've been wanting one ever since I lost my last one.

I did discover AEFW in my tank, but I think I caught it early, and I've been doing the basting method for the last two weeks. Tonight, I basted (and dipped frags in my frag tank that can be removed) to try and show my friend what AEFW looked like, but luckily was unable to do so, because I couldnt find any :) Despite the infestation the corals are looking better than ever IMO. Need to take some updates pics....

Yep it seems that AEFW is common lately from LFS's. Not naming any names but I found 3 visible flatworms after using Tropic Marin Coral Cure on a couple coral I bought last weekend.

I have wanted a sargassum trigger for a long time myself. I can't seem to find a small one. I want one in the 3"-4" range so if for some reason Old Town has two let me know. From what I hear, sargassum's don't ship well so make sure you get a healthy fish;) You may want to put him on hold in the store for a couple weeks to make sure he is alright.

Would love to see some updated pics...

Get some Yellow Coris Wrasses for the AEFW. I had two, just 1 now, and I have never had any signs of AEFW in my tank.

i do know the coris eats the planarian flatworms, but from all reports I have heard they... just like many other fish only eat the aefw when in the water column. they also consume ornamental inverts when large.

can't wait to see the "reveal" of the new pics!

There isn't a whole lot new. The corals have grown well, and there are a few new ones. I've been focusing on non-acros, so added a sunset monti, superman monti, a pink skin green polyp pocci, a tiny abbleberry monti, a couple aussie acans, and a prism favia (crossing my fingers for the LPS once I start adding angels :) ). I'm going to try to do the pics right - turn off flow, use a tripod, etc. so it will be Sunday at the earliest when I get them posted (have a wedding to attend fri-sat).

Did you ever get that Aqua-C RX-1 reactor ? I'm thinking of getting one and would like to know what you think of it after using it. Any info would be much appreciated Thanks Mike
