mako - I did end up buying the AquaC RX-1, but havent had a chance to set it up yet (the local place for CO2 has some pretty limited hours, like, exactly the same as when I have to work :) ). Out of the box the construction looks really nice, I'm hoping to have it up in the next week.

Pat - the sunset monti is keeping its coloration so far, knock on wood. You've got the first frag when it comes time for fragging.

Here are the long overdue update pics:

(disclaimer that I think I overadjusted the color on the next one...I try to make it as close to what I see as possible...but my colors are not as vivid as the following pic would make them appear...I still like the pic tho, so I'm posting with the disclaimer :) )

Looks awesome. Are only have the lights on,doesnt seem too bright. Nice montis though. Ive started really like those and chalices a lot more lately, as opposed to acros.

Beautiful shots. Where in the world did you get a watermelon colony that big? Grew out from frags?

Jflip - only 8 of the 12 bulbs are on for that exact reason, its easier to photograph when not as bright.

Kigs - Bought the chalice at 4" from a local reefer shutting down his tank - $30 :) I'd say its about 7" now (over a year later), a very slow grower....

dzhuo - Yes, I think the coverage is perfect - if it weren't a little dim at the edges I would have no place for my LPS (they bleach if directly under it).

skey - thanks much, can't wait to see your tank popping with color

Sara - I could be up for a trade, especially if you are versed in fragging chalices. I've never fragged anything but SPS. I've got a dremel and a diamond cutter, but not sure what to do with them....

I love that undata!! Tank is looking good. How long have the fish been in the tank now?

I added the first ones about 4 weeks ago. So far, so good. Current count is 7 fish.

That is great news my friend. Any sign of the AEFW lately?

Two bastings ago I saw none. Last time, I saw one lowly AEFW. I also ordered a bunch of Revive, so I'm going to dip what corals I can remove, in addition to the basting. If I don't get to the point where I see none in a month, I'm going to try something Greg Carroll suggested - once a week I'll remove all corals (and the whole rock they are encrusted on, into a revive dip for a couple minutes, baste, then place back in the display. This shouldn't stress the corals too much, and will hopefully be as effective as QT. Right now, the basting method seems to be working though, so I'm going to stick with it until it doesnt work.

I have the Inland Band Saw, so we could do some perfect cuttings!

Sara - I may have to take you up on this. The only thing is there are about 10 ppl in line for a frag, so I'd have to figure out how to deal with it fairly. None of those ppl can teach me how to properly frag a chalice however. Shoot me a PM and we can work something out.

Awesome tank setup took a couple days to get through the thread but there was a ton of good into in there.

Sorry to hear about your losses i always have a lot better luck with coral than fish.

I know you have the one surface wavemaker but had you considered one of the Tunze models if so pros/cons?

Do you think it will be able to provide good coverage for 48" front to back? I don't really need full coverage either but I have no idea what's the general coverage with t5. Is a good t5 unit pretty much like a good MH reflector in which it could cover up to 2'x2' even if the reflector is only say 12"x12"?
