This is one of the tanks that has convinced me to go T5s well I am almost there, just waiting on some fans and a few more bulbs to arrive

speeddemonlsr - In that last picture it is my sunrise/sunset combo, 1 UVL actinic, 2 Blue Plus, and 1 Fiji Purple. Its a great combo because each bulb highlights a different color. actinic pops greens and oranges, blue plus pops blues, and the fiji purple pops pinks/reds.

Ryan - can't wait to see you get T5s on your setup.

I've been too busy this week to actually get any more new bulbs (patent needs to be filed by tomorrow noon) so by tomorrow evening should be able to figure out my bulbs. Thanks again for you help.

Wow, that monti is looking great and I can see that purple edge of new growth.

Mine is a little mad due to an alk swing, so hopefully it pulls through it okay. I also think that's what caused the $30 one to have issues as well.

Sara - alk swings can have some nasty results...its always tough figuring out the Ca/Alk in a new tank...mine is growing fast, so if for some reason yours doesn't make it, I should have a frag for you down the road.

Count me in. Well, for the beer at least lol. No more frags unfortunately until we move and upgrade ... now if real estate in the city would just drop a bit...

This happened in my original system with the prop tank. My Kalk reactor siphoned itself half way empty into my fuge. I was fortunate to catch it while it was happening and stop it half way down ... could have been worse! It has never happened before, so I'm not sure what happened.

Thanks for the offer of the frag too! My large original piece is showing new growth and color, but I think I only lost the 2 frags I had so I should be okay. The chalice, that's just about a total loss as the skin continues to peel off.

Sorry Im sure these questions have been asked but i cant find the answers in the 54 pages

1. Do you run a DSB in your sump?
2. What lighting do you use on your frag tank?
3. What is your glass thickness?

Aaron - thanks much. 1. the sand is probably about 3-4" in the fuge, and there is also about 100 lbs of rock in it. 2. I have a 250w lumenarc (for top down viewing, T5s aren't an option), although the frag tank right now is my dirty secret - its basically a hair algae farm 3. The glass is 1/2".

THanks heaps. Im pretty close to starting my tank with the same dimension. can decide if it want to go DSB, fuge and GFO or Carbon source with bacteria. You dont dose anything do you? ie aminos, vodka
