wow i was about to give a chance on MH to my dispaly but i think im going with VHO

just one question will a frag tank be ok with VHO?. im talking about a SPS & LPS frag tank.

Ian, is that a standard 90? how did you fit 6 bulbs over it? id like to add two if possible, to my 75.

yes sir it is a standard 90. I built myself a custom canopy and it really wasn't that tough to fit the 6 bulbs in there. I'm really thinking of trying to squeeze one more in. The secret is not to use the second part of the icecap endcaps. I don't use the part that you physically mount to the canopy, I rig mine on there without it to save the 1/2" or so, that's how I fit more bulbs in there.

Here will be one of my last pics of my tanks with VHOs. I will be adding 400 watt MH supplementation to the tank over the next month or so. This is just so I can say I did. I have well documented my tank, with pictures, over the years and am curuios to see how things turn out... I know I can always go back to the vastly supeior VHO lighting if needed...

i run 2 actinics whites and 2 super actinics, i dont have a full tank shot of just the actinics on, but i do have a few of individual corals.

the lighting is all VHO, the first pic is with just the VHO actinics on and the 2nd one is with all 4 110w bulbs on (2 actinic white, 2 super actinics).

Hey guys nice shots... I'm going to be going from 2, 110w uri 46.5 to 4 110w uri 46.5 bulbs. Based on what i've seen here the half and half combos of 03 and white look nice. The question I have is, does it matter which bulb you start with first to get a certain look. In other words does it make a difference if the first bulb (closest to front of tank) is the 03 or the 50/50? Also, I may want to run 3 bulbs for a while first then add the fourth in a few weeks to try and help with acclimating the tank to the new wattage... The harness I will be using requires all 4 bulbs to be in the harness or in other words, the circuit to be closed... If I don't put a 4th bulb in, the circuit will not be closed.. Can I just connect the wires together, on the fourth endcap, to close the circuit? Thanks

I alternate between the bulbs on my tank. 03 => 50/50 => 03 => Aquasun => 03 => 50/50 => 03 => Aquasun. I don't think it really matters which one oyu start with.

What kind of ballast are you using? If it is an IceCap or URI ballast use these wiring diagrams:

i just what to say thank to everyone. i just got my VHOs and a IceCap660. so far the best investment i have ever made. everything look much much better. coral are now fully open. the color is amazing and the SPS are loving it!

Yea i bought mine over a year ago and it was definatley worth the money. I just had my BTA split for the 3rd time.
