Can I ask you guys a question?
I saw a cynarina in a shop recently and almost bought it...but it's a metallic hot pink...almost see-through.I was afraid it was just a red that lost it's color. What do you think? It's 50$

Bergzy's first pic is a cynarina, I'm pretty sure.

I have had several reds come in and most start off a washed out reddish brown, then color up to more of a nice reddish. A "metallic hot pink...almost see-through" I would have to think is stressed. As long as the coral seems healthy otherwise (skeleton structure isn't broken, flesh looks nice and puffy), I'd give it a shot. May color up into a real nice red if its that pink. Might even get the lfs to come down a little if you talk about the stress.

Thanks zeppelin...that's what I was thinking. It was stressed or had lost some of it's zoo'.The flesh was very puffy and it's quite beautiful.
I once tried to revive a see through all pink frogspawn,it did'nt make it.My lights may have been a bit too much for it.It seems to me that some LPS really don't do well under my 250 MH's.I have an alveopora straight under them that is doing awesome and loving it.I guess when it comes to LPS corals they do not have equal requirements as it is with most sps and softies.

how much do yall think a 3" red and white one would be worth. I got contacted about one and hes a nice guy and knowlagable so I dont hes tryign to make me pay more than its worth at all. But i was just wonderin.

yep,

it's a cynaria all right...:) it is one of my fav scoly/cynaria

the other fav is the spotted one. i have only seen one other one in a lfs display tank. so if someone else has another...please post it. i saw a pink spotted one day too but the lfs was asking $269 for it. no way sucker! :D

my pink cynarina. This is it's 2nd night in the tank. It was getting "happy" with my cold cathode ray tube moonlight and I took the shot with just actinics on.

I color enhanced it just a little to show what it looks like to the naked eye.:strooper:

heuerfan, where did you order your? That's awesome. I've got one on my tank, green, that I will post a pic of him. He's somewhat mid / large i guess.

I'll let you guys decide when you see him.

Has anyone of you seen a pinkish scoly...? I saw one at the lfs and was wondering if it just lost if color.

scolys when they first come in can be a little bleached out and look pink...once they color up...they usually become a light red or deep orange. all 5 of my red/orange scoly's came like this and colored up nicely after it settled down.

i have not seen a true pink scoly yet (but who the heck am i anyway!;)) but there are a lot of cynaria's (yeah, i know i always spell them incorrectly and have since given up trying to spell them right) that are a true pink and are absolutely gorgeous.

John,
Can you repost some of the pics...Not too sure if it is me only but I see the white square with the red x
From other thread I know you have some have some killer pieces
Thanks.

BTW Do you guys feed yours and under wat condition they are at....

Thanks Ben for the 411 on the pinkish color scoly. So you think it'll be a worth while in buying?

i found that if i see a coral that i really like but hem and haw on it...only to go back the next day or so to get it onl to find it not there anymore...it sucks, needless to say!

if you like it...why not give it a go? remember they like slow to moderate flow and not too intense lighting! :) that is why i have all of mine on the sand!

Thankx again, I'm on my way to get the scolymia from the lfs.

Hope this one is healthy as my first neon green scolymia.:D
