Hey, I've got the same size green scoly. I missed out on that pinkish red scoly. I'm so bumbed out:sad1:

Ohh well, time to move on - you've got some cool looking scoly's bro.

Especially the red one's.

Diggin' up this thread!

Diggin' up this thread!

Was doing a search on some new corals that I adopted w/the purchase of a 120G. Some people have said Scolymia and I say Cynarina for both. What do y'all think? Oh, and it seems that these might be fairly valuable? Like I said, they came with the tank. I have no intention of selling the 1st, as it's easily my new favorite coral.

Thanks for the ID - I thought they were both Cynarina =D

Lighting - That's a good question that I'm not sure on. When I got my two Cynarina they were in a metal halide set-up w/6.67 watts/gallon. My set-up is also metal halides and has over 9 watts/gallon. The first Cynarina sits a little over half-way up on a rock and is seemingly great, and that's where it was situated before. The second Cynarina is on the ground, as that's where it was before I got it as well. Neither have been in my set-up for that long though, so I cannot really say if they like their placements long-term.

As far as flow is concerned, I read they don't care for too much flow, so neither is in any high flow spot.

Btw - how is it that these guys reproduce?

sorry if his has been answered but what is the common name for scolymia? Is there a good website that i could refer to for common names?

I know this thread is old, but I think it deserves to be dug up... Actually, I was wondering if these donuts are tougher to take care of than other LPS (like Frogspawn and Torch). Any thoughts? Thanks!
