Let's see your rare wrasses!!!!

Marshall I forgot did you have one or two C. cf lanceolatus? I think I said this before but with mine he didn't do much until I added a second juv female then he when into over drive with the flushing of blue colors.

His dorsal fin extends fully up and he does his up and down dance which she wants really no part of and swims away. I notice this act happens more often when the radions go into dusk mode (heavy blue and uv).

I need to buy a good camera so you can see it.

I only have one juvi. Starting to show signs of transitioning though. That is quite common though, to have the mating dance go on with just the actinics. But we would need pics for you to prove it, so get on that camera :)

I thought that I had posted this before, but I don't see it so...
Was labeled Crescent tail wrasse...
Sorry for 'stress' colors, have to try for better pic

Yup, looks like a C. cf lunatus (from the Philippines). Definitely need a better pic either way :)

My cf. lanceolatus (lone male) had been submissive to the others until recently. Last night he was flashing pretty good to the johnsoni males.

C. lunatus or C. cf. lunatus? It looks like it might be the former (true Japanese) to me.

Yes, similar to the one I first got, but tail is longer
What's the pattern on the body look like? Is there a yellow bar or not?

Mine hasn't developed near as much black and is a lot more of a pinkish color, really similar to my johnsoni and pintail.
My Japanese lunatus is a bit boring, honestly. Very submissive and at the bottom or the hierarchy. The richness of his colors faded a lot from the time of purchase.

Just purchased a pair of rhomboids and both doing great and fit right in with the rest of the wrasse clan.

I lost the male during my move :(
He was healthy and very active but when I moved him to the holding tank he decided to swim into a return pump (my fault pump was too strong). He lived for a few hrs then died. I quickly fixed the the problem but it was too late. I will setup the DT tomorrow.

Here is an old pic of the two. With the male outside of box.

how do the feminus fair out in a reef tank ? they are very expensive for me to get and the info I can get is that they are very difficult like the choat's leopards .

lol i passed on them. more are coming through the lfs, but i wasnt impressed. lennardi are much nicer but time will tell. i know the tanks they are going into so itll be interesting to see how they do. i've ordered a blue spot tamarin for my tank as i think they are nicer looking fish in real life. its easy to get caught up in what is rare and desirable because of how rare they are not just their looks.

iamwrasseman i can't comment yet but alot of fish you guys have trouble with aren't that bad here. i think it has to do with the travel time and in australia the qt time for imports is 2 weeks which may reduce fatalities in the home aquarium. personally i've not heard anyone keeping chaoti here successfully beyond 1year

For what it cost to get one here in the states and the low survival rate I probably wont ever own one but dreaming is a big part of this hobby.

Yes, dreaming is a big, enjoyable part of this hobby. And I am dreaming about all your wrasses. This thread has been great. The pictures are just beautiful.

very jeolous..LOL Although I have Tamarins, Leopards, Flashers and Fairy wrasses...my male H. Richmondi is probably my rarest...I don't see them that often here on the Long Island..

I need to get pics but....
My blue spot tamarin
Male cf. lancelatous
Male Rosefascia
Supermale labouti
Male lineatus
2x male 8 line flashers
And my Male balteatus
are probably my rare...r ones.

My 2sub male flames and male rosy scales aren't too uncommon.

ive had lineatus in the past and love them but wanted to change it up and get a labouti male. how do these two get along in your tank? and how big is your tank? as i may get my cake AND eat it

My tank is 11' long. Its a 325.
I added them at the QT'd them at same time and added them to display at same time. They show each other up every once in a while. But my female Rosefascia, which turned male and exploded in growth is the new king of tank. She/he was in there before the other two were put in. Lots of displaying while labouti and lineatus were in acclimation box. But that subsided prior to letting them out.

I lost my diamond tail a few months back and desperately want another but with the 2 8lines in there now, that may be a huuuuggggeeee issue.
