Lfs in so cal

The guys in Coral Collection are cool dudes, they just need more stock! I hope they make it!

Tongs in Fountain Valley are crooks. Always sick fish for sale!

Nice guys over at 405 Tropical Fish in Westminster. They will deal with you!

I've never gotten a sick fish at Pacific Reef in Fountain Valley. Not cheap, but very enthusiastic employees!

I know they've been mentioned several times now, but I visited the Tropical Reef in Rancho Cucamonga today, and really liked the store. They've got a nice frag selection and very helpful people that answered all my questions. That's sort of important to a newb like me ;)

tropical reef in rancho cucamonga is a great new store- just wanted to add another a+.

I appreciate when a store won't sell you stuff you shouldn't have- tang in a nano tank, venomous catfish, cold water snail, etc

great prices on frags- excellent variety. Fish have lots of room which is so nice to see.

Excellent dry good selection, and best of all: Premade saltwater (not dirty ocean water) and ro at great rates!

Highly recommended! Between rochester and day creek on foothill

+1

Wife and I went to 405 Tropical Fish for the first time today. Nice people, actually a great selection of fish. Managed to drop a c-note there on a few fish. I like this store!

Hi,
I'm about to set up a reef tank and I'm trying to find a good LFS to help me set it up. I went to Tong's Tropical Fish store in Whittier and Daniel was pretty nice and he gave me a pretty good price for the whole set up (sump, skimmer, pumps, 100lbs of live rock, sand and salt water) for $1100 is that a decent deal? He also has this guy that could set everything up for me for $80. What do you guys think? I've been to Tong's in Fullerton and The Reef in Anaheim but they were not that helpful. Any other stores i should check around Rowland Heights? Thanks

Additional information might be helpful such as tank size, lighting system, brand/type of skimmer and pumps, how much sand, etc. Does the price include a stand and is the tank made of acrylic or glass? You get the idea :)

Stopped by Coral Collection yesterday for the first time. Wierd vibe - didn't acknowledge my presence while there and I was the only customer. Still setting up. Some guy was running electrical wires. Probably not going back.

I've yet to visit this store. I'd like to, perhaps I should wait til next year. Maybe they'll be fully setup.

I would list what they're quoting you on. Have you checked online retailers for the equipment they quoted you on? IME, Tong's is not the cheapest on equipment

I visited Aquarium World near LAX yesterday and it was F ing amazing!!!!!

There selection seems to getting better and better. Their prices for fish are very good and they always offer 30% off with thier online coupon on most of their livestock.

My wife and I will be near the Huntington Beach area over the holidays. What are the top 3 stores to visit for corals near that area? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Most would say
1. Ali's Amazing Aquariums and Reefs
1842 North Tustin Street Orange, CA 92865

Many would say
2. Coral Island
1711 West Chapman Avenue Orange, CA 92868

3. Coral Collection
16515 Magnolia Street Westminster, CA 92683

But if you are willing to drive a little further south
4. Capistrano Reef
31896 Plaza Drive San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
is a really nice place.

I got the same thing but there was only one guy in there when i went in. When I asked for help the guy got up very upset as if i bothered him, quickly answered my question, and walked away. The other guy (dave) and I both looked at each other like "what was that about" and walked out.

Their stock was pretty light and the store is smaller than I expected. I do not see what all the hype was about but at least i met an interesting reefer.

I heard there's a place named Global Aquatics in Ontario that is warehouse huge. Does anyone have experience there? Is it worth a drive from the South Bay?

Thanks,

Rob

Agreed on the hype and wouldn't go out of my way to visit it even if the customer service was decent.

My wife and I stopped by near the first part of October when we were in Southern California the last time. We had heard all the good feedback; unfortunately, our expectations might have been too high. The coral frags were very small and there was not much livestock. Prices were not all that great either.

NO NOT WORTH IT! When they where building the ontario airport it was supposed to be the ontario international airport so the owner of global aquatics decided to be a wholesaler for the airport and built a huge warehouse for fish but when the airport was finally built and decided to only do domestic flights global aquatics got screwed, now big space little fish and in my opoinioin not worth it.
