Lfs in so cal

That's a Mandarin Goby...a very difficult fish to keep!

+100000

They are difficult because they are tough to get to eat prepared foods. They only eat pods. Most perish in anything less than a very established tank with a regenerating pop population. Just thought I would add a bit to Kings' suggestion...

Jim's Exotic Fish in El Segundo was also pretty cool, very friendly staff, clean tanks.
There wasn't a whole lot of corals when I was there last, glad to hear they are stepping up on that.

I stopped by Vivid and I was very impressed (as usual) / Jesus is the best (Heyzus for the non-native speakers). I bought me a nice piece of NORTHERN LIGHTS.

+1 on Jims exotic fish on store appearance , selection and customer service. They genuinely love the hobby and are very knowledgeable.

+1 for discount tropical fish in la habra. They have 6 5x5 frag racks. They have a lot of zoas, maybe 3 racks worth and the other 3 have randoms. Overall the prices were good. What caught my attention was the owner was building 3 more frag tanks ance he told me he was trying to get a better assortment. Thanks to whoever recommended it to me! I forgot who it was lol :-P

Is that the place on La Habra Blvd that also does FedEx?

Yup, that's the place. FedEx Andy mail boxes to the right and lfs to the left lol. The owner was telling me he's been in business 20 years but he barely started doing frags a little over a year now and he has more stuff then stores that have had corals way longer. I think my favorite part is that its near my house. Never bothered going because of its name.

Wow! I haven't been in that place for a long time. I am getting ready to move up there and I am happy to hear I may have found a new LFS up there.
When I used to go in there, he was mostly fresh water and reptiles. I am going to be up there on Tuesday. I will have to stop by.

I drove over to New Wave Fish in Tustin today. Wow, what great owners! Very nice and knowledgeable. Made me a great cash deal for some fish! Worth the drive and they have a pretty good selection.

I'm on spring break so I finally had time to stop by Reef Raft USA.

I really liked the layout of the store and the variety of corals. Many of the frags are grouped by price (prices seemed fair to me).

The owner was really cool, we chatted a bit.

I am not a high end shopper/ big spender at all, but I was still able to find a cool little frag for $10 to put in my classroom tank.

I'll definitely be going back to look around, and probably pick out something small for the picotope at home.

I went to Reef Raft last Friday and was also impressed with the selection. That's some serious coral candy in there. The place was clean, the corals were pest free and in excellent condition. Prices were decent but the selection was what really stood out in my eyes. If you're a chalice nut, then you definitely need to check this place out. If you're not a chalice nut, its still hands down one of the best shops in the area in terms of selection. The 4 tanks with just SPS is crazy. The LPS tanks were awesome as well. I ended up walking out of there spending more than what i should have but just couldn't pass things up. What i liked the most was being able to see the mother colony before buying a frag. I also prefer to have my frags freshly cut right off the mother, but that's just me. The owner (Tony) was pretty cool and is a good guy. I'd definitely shop there again. Too bad he's not closer...but then again, maybe that's a good thing.

Hey guys, any recommendations on nice lfs in the Fullerton area?

I've been out of the hobby for years and just moved to buena park/Fullerton.

Thanks

The husband and wife owners there are really nice people, not the largest selection but I will buy things there from time to time.
