lighting for green cap

I recently scored 3 monti cap frags, red, green and purple. The red and purple frags have colored up very nicely but the green has slowly started bleach out. It has good polyp extension and has already made a base but the color is something to be desired. Do green caps not like as much light? I have 6x54w overdriven T5s

montipora caps regardless of color should like the same amount of light i dont think its just the green. where did u start it out in the tank and how fast did it bleach. if its bleaching its usually from too much light and browning is not enough.

All three frags are located in the middle of the tank and I screen acclimated them for a couple weeks. I just think its strange that the green frag started bleaching and the others didn't since they are all at the same level. The frag isn't completely bleached, just really light green. Its slowly lightened over a couple weeks.

I've had the same thing happen for all three cap frags I got. They slowly faded to an almost white color then the color came back. It happened after the frags had been in the tank for a month.

Each frag was aquired at a different time so I don't think it was a tank event that did it.

Hopefully it will come back like mine.

mpcart how long did it take for yours to color back up?

I too got a purple cap and it has lightend alot since I've put in the tank Ive had it for about 3 weeks

My red and orange caps do great from the beginning. I have found that the three greens that I have all fade quickly to tan when stressed and eventually get back to bright green when they are happy. Not to say its stress but could be from the trip.

mine does well at the bottom of a 55g (20 inch depth) under 4x54 W t5's tek fixture.....it has colored up even greener since i got it about 3 weeks ago....because it has colored up so well i decided not to move it up

HOW IS THE FLOW NEAR THAT CAP...IME they like alot of flow...i cant give em too much

Maybe two months. They are all growing like crazy now.
