Lightsluvr's 340G Upgrade

does your tank really have a high Ca demand? not really being packed full of Ca demanding corals
do you have any problems with your Ca reactor throwing off your balance?

After I dialed in the reactor, it maintains the parameters pretty nicely... It was keeping CA at 400, now it is up to 450 (where I want it) and the DKH stays pretty close to 11. I still supplement with the BRS Magnesium solution...about a pint every two days...just enough to keep MG up around 1350-1400.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Nice re-cap...and the wife loves the blonde naso, so looks like we'll be adding it to our list:)

Thanks friend for checking back in... I plan to get over to your site and check out your progress as well...

We really like the Blond Naso... we usually get our fish from our LFS where we can watch them eat before taking them home... thus we were a little concerned when the new guy didn't show any interest in feeding with the other fish.

After 48 hours, we saw him start to graze the rock, but still no interest in meaty foods served to the other tankmates. After 4 days, he is definitely going after Nori that we break up in the tank. Now that he is taking food out of the water column, we think he'll do just fine.

The agression we saw from the Sailfin and Foxface has also abated and he freely roams the tank now... all is good.

Very nice recap.

Thanks, man. Things are amazingly stable, knock on glass. ;)

Water change time in the morning... got 65G of new saltwater made and circulating.

I will roll the lights back out of the way in the morning and rearrange some coral. I plan to add 4-5 frags I picked up at the CRASE last month. They have been in the frag tank for the past few weeks, and are ready for prime time... :D

You have to a better job here, what kind of frags?? lol I guess I could just wait on the pics.

A superman monti, green Cyphastrea, blue zoas, blue tort...some other stuff...

I'll get some pictures when the lights come on.

I'm doing some trading with GregC later this week...he's going to surprise me! :bounce1:

Wow! Thanks for the tenacity and doggedness! (Lightsluvr's words of the day) :fish1:

When you wake up, let us know if you have any questions... I hope to post some updated pictures later today.

A little birdie told me that Greg will have a piece of my Season Greeting for you lol

That's what I hear! I am excited! That same birdie tells me that I owe Greg big time for his assistance with my tank! That big Vlamingi in my tank is a foster from Greg. He also donated a nice Toadstool for my orphaned ocellaris clowns when they were evicted by the larger black/white clowns...

Thanks for saying hello, Steve. I have really enjoyed and learned from your thread!

i finally did it.. all 64 pages, great build.. I really like the recap on the last couple pages.

Well shucks, after all that - if you ever make it up to the OKC area, give me a shout and I'll give you the cook's tour of the aquarium! :fish1:

It's the least I could do...

P.S. when's your appointment with your optometrist? :wildone:

A chemical change or doomed?

My two frogspawn colonies, located on opposite sides of the tank, have changed colors to this interesting mint green:

I attribute it to a solution (below) I was dosing the tank for ich control...

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...ubref=AA&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=0035602000000

(please, no lectures... I know it was likely snake oil :hmm6:)

Anyway, the coral are still eating, not sloughing off their skeletons, and expand fully during the day...they are just this atomic (sounds sexier) green. They are brighter than my Kryptonite Candy Canes!

Any suggestions? Comments? Shall I make up a fancy name for them and start selling single head frags for $200? :bounce1: Just kidding...

LL

P.S. - The ich spots on my blue tang have disappeared. May be just a coincidence...

I'm assuming, since it all you posted about, they are the only things you have noticed that have changed.

Because they are so inflated by water, they are the first to show signs of any stress. Have you checked for anything odd like metals or heater malfuction? Anything that could be different from the water change yesterday?

All other coral are perfectly normal... including SPS, mushrooms, toadstools, gsp, xenia, candy canes and duncans...

They have displayed this color for several weeks (not an overnight thing). :twitch:
