I couldn't locate a used 24" T5 fixture (or retrokits) locally, so will be ordering 4x24w IceCap kits from ReekGeeks later today. They are the same kits I used over the DT, except the DT has 24x54W lights. :D

I need to go over to the T5 Q&A thread to get some advice for the bulb selection.

The fishroom is rapidly approaching floor space saturation... the treadmill takes a lot of space, but it has to stay there... The automatic kitty box is the final addition. (One of the sacrifices demanded by Ms. LL) ;)

Well you know if the Mrs aint happy, you won't be...lol
It should be a breeze to throw a four bulb kit together considering you did such a good job on the 24 bulb setup on the DT.

That's the way I'm leaning...

PC pn the frag tank

PC pn the frag tank

I have a few zoanthids and some surviving SPS in the frag tank, so I just put an old PC light over it until I get the T5 built this coming week.
Better than no light at all. Good water, minimal feeding and a little light should keep things happy for a few days. The water in my old frag tank was getting pretty bad.

Something else to look at on the web cam... ;)

I will be moving the web cam later today to a location in the room where I can view more items in the fish room, particularly the skimmer. Right now the frag tank blocks view of much of the system. After moving it, I'll re-program the pre-sets.

pc lighting-- dirty water

pc lighting-- dirty water

My first reef was......

a 5 gal. acrilyc hex with a 10 watt bulb.

Never again, with all the expensive sumps and T5 lighting did I grow zoanthids as well. Was probably the dirty water as much as the light. But I also learned from DC, when I had trouble with a colony, to throw it in the sump. Saved a lot of colonies that way. PC lighting. So , they will probably love your temporary solution.

SPS, not so much:p

Two watts per gallon... cutting it close! ;)

You'll have another, soon.

Web cam repositioned

Web cam repositioned

The fish room web-cam has been repositioned to a side wall. I like the view better. Let me know what you think.

I am shopping for a second camera for a view of the display.

I like the new position of the web cam!! You may have mentioned, but I can't remember, Is your frag tank plumbed into the main system, or is it isolated?

on top off....

on top off....

Like the camera placement

Good view of everything. Have the tank cleaner lady work on this end of the tank:rollface:

cabinet is 69 1/4 in tall with 5 shelves

Didn't get your pm till just now, working on taxes. IRS wants to an audit of medical expenses for 2007-- TJ's surgeries. Wait till they get a load of 2008 !!!! We can shoot for next weekend if you like.

____________

On another note,

Have you considered wide shelving above your water storage tanks or above the exercise machine wor things like water jugs, towels etc.... to help with floor space?

It is plumbed to Sump #2 (the adjacent 100G Rubbermaid Stock Tank)...

I can easily make it stand alone by moving the Mag 7 return pump and overflow hose to a separate sump/skimmer (which I haven't acquired yet.) I do have a new Nano skimmer from Sapphire Aquatics sitting in a box that might fit the bill...

Maybe I don't want people peaking into our living area and left the side glass covered with algae on purpose! Yeah, that's the ticket!! :p

Or maybe I didn't have a cleaner strong enough to grip through 3/4" glass until yesterday... that sounds plausible...

Or maybe I just cleaned a little peek hole in the side so I can sneak up on the fish... Naaahh, nobody would believe that one... :D

Anyway, I'll work on it now that I have received a Tiger shark cleaner that takes two hands to move (!)

I think I'm going to put the RO/DI jugs in the pantry where the RO/DI tank used to be. That'll be out of the way, close to the inside Koi pond and the kitchen sink where I fill one gallon jugs for the Seahorse top-off.

Towels are not stored on top of the cabinets, so that is space being utilized for multiple purposes anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions and the observations...

What is the advantage of having it isolated fromt the main system?

In case I need a QT or hospital tank on short notice...
