Lily's first reef! - updated

Nine months already??? where has the time gone?? Truly amazing Abril, you have some choice pieces there, I'm going to especially like the zoa garden when it fills in.

Wow! The trachy is looking good! Two thoughts, the hammer is going to outgrow that spot quickly. It's already close to the glass. Maybe move it towards the top center so it can spread happily. The lobo is too close to those zoas. If you haven't seen it yet, coral warfare will soon break out. I'm not sure who will win the real estate battle. Recently one of my caulestreas fell next to my favia. The favia won, killing one head before I found it. :(

Hey there, Happy New Year! :)
Yes, the lobo was worrying me. I moved it over to the left a couple inches a week or so ago, then...those crazy palys grew even closer. Then i woke up one morning and the palys were touching the lobo. No stings nor any marks where they are touching, however the lobo is growing fast. I can't move the lobo much where it's at in the cave opening. If i move it out i'm afraid it'll start bleaching again. I think it might be time to frag back those crazy palys. They're totally overgrowing the bright pink paly colony to the right. So the pink ones are dying there and growing up the rock.
At this point it's a race upwards.
After i frag a few of those rose nebulas back, i think i'll put two frag discs in the sand, one under the nebula paly colony and one under the bright pink colony.
I'm hoping that by doing this the crazy nebs can grow down onto the one disc instead of continuing going up the rocks onto all the other zoa colonies, and hopefully the pink panthers can grow onto the other disc to get away.

Now the crazy palys are 1/4" away from touching the trachyphyllia.
Meep.
Should i just start fragging them back?
Yesterday I moved the lobo a bit even though they didn't seem to be bothered by each other, i didn't wanna take any chances. Now they're touching the lobo again, bur more worrisome to me is now they're nearing the radiata.

We'll have to talk. My leather is still dropping offspring. I've given away bout 20, still have a couple in the sump for johnike, and there's still 2 on the stalk of mama. Two others that got loose and attached before I could get to them.

Want some??? :D

That's very kind, but the palys are taking over my tank.
Your leather is going to take over the world someday.
My other corals don't want any more "grow an inch overnight" corals in thère with them.
Except Aiptasia.
Yes, i've got aiptasia folks. First there were four tiny ones. Zapped those. Now i have like...10. They're only 1/4" but still, DO NOT WANT. I'm going to buy that laser that some rc members are talking about.

April, I had great success with a matted Filefish for Aiptasia control. Hasn't bothered a thing in the tank.
Jesse things are about stable here, thanks for thinking about me. :)

Oh sweet! I didn't know about those. They just eat them all?
How big are they? Could they be in a 29g?
Thanks.

ps. (while in Cahulawassee, don't drop the soap).

It's a shame you're not in CA. I have a filefish who will need a new home soon.

I will say this: buyer beware, because my filefish acquired a taste for zoanthids, and now he likes nibbling LPS.

lazer should work, but also few a true peppermint shrimp will do the trick on Aiptasa & might cut back some palys, too!

Yes, don't mistake camel shrimp for peppermints. Slightly similar if you know the difference, not so much if you don't. True peppermints have always worked for me. Toss two in your tank and the aiptasia should be gone in no time.
