Lily's first reef! - updated

I think I found April a new avatar at the botanical garden in Hilo:

I'm gonna post pics of my zoas and palys as they heal up from the spider incident. I found three more in the past two days. Zoa eating spider numbers are dwindling but i'd be really much happier of i wouldn't find ANY anymore.
Here are my "SunnyD" palys when i first got them from Vivid

Here they are after the spider attacks

Here they are two weeks later, after moving them on the sand (away from any previous spider attack area), dipping them in Lugol's solution, and after feeding them coral frenzy and reef roids three times a week. They are thankfully beginning to gain their green and gold coloration back, instead of that sickly gray and pink. And their skirts are starting to grow and unfold again. I'll post more pics as these get better :)

I got this at Target for 30.00 buckd

And the floor lamp has three pivoting heads that can be positioned anywhere, and each of the lights has a dome type shade

So i figured i'd like to try this for "mood spotlighting" in the tank. These par38 led spotlights have standard light bulb bases, so they can go in any lamp socket. The lzmp is going to be placed on the other side of the tank, i put it on the left just for the picture. i have to tidy up that side first. I'll post when i get that done and try it. If it doesnt work like i want it to then im prepared to take the lamp back and send the bulb back to md.

cant wait to see what it looks like and to hear what you think of it when set up

it looks like it may be a nice way to put some late afternoon/evening type light on the tank

LOVE the new lights! My dream would be to have those par 38 bulbs hanging from light pendants above my tank :) wouldn't that look fancy? I agree though, you could probably replace the current light you have with those babies.

The par38 reef light is way too bright for supplemental lighting on my tank. It's best used for getting better pics :)
Also, i took a couple of new pics.

I'm not sure if it's the Lugols we dosed for the spiders but i haven't found a ze spider in two weeks. i believe the tank is rid of them.
Finally! Whew! That was incredibly draining.
However, my zoas and palys are finally back to their former selves and growing :)
The Tubbs blues zoas have gone from 4 to 8
the rose nebula palys have gone from 9 polyps to 71 polyps.
the pink panthers have gone from 15 to 58
the aog palys have gone from 6 to 18

The optical block has already been replaced under the recall. ;)

Oh good. I unfortunately missed the recall and of course out of warranty. I am getting a cheap replacement so all is not lost.

If you don't know already the optical block is made by Sony so the design flaw is still there.

Cheers!

G.

*Very* interesting discussion of the zoa predation. My zoas look like crap, and now I'm wondering if I too have a problem with pestilence.

Looks like I'll be doing a late night or two with the flashlight.

April your tank looks lovely BTW!
