Lion / Starfish / Urchin compatible?

Oh, great! Hubs will like this idea. He has wanted an eel since we first got into saltwater.

Going to go look at your pics right now Greg!

I have a green wolf eel and he so far hasn't bothered any inverts. Im actually surprised too. Doesn't bother.my pencil urchin either.

im not a fan of green wolf eels. they are very agressive. i had one he did not play nice with my waspfish. the fuzzy lion woudl intimidate him so he would not try the lion.

i have a ghost ribbon that is awsome. and its a true eel. not a dottyback(like the wolf "eel" is)

i really like that tank. it looks really cool. i like how you dont have it super crowded being a taller tank vs wide

The Hawaiian is so darn cute!!!
I really like the Weedy Scorpionfish, the Fu Manchu, and the Bearded ghoul as well.

Thanks Double M.

Well, Hubs is here and I think we have decided on the Golden Dwarf Mooray. He wants an Antennata though... as much as I think I do like the Fuzzy I like the looks of the Antennata more. Is there any real reason I should get a Fuzzy over an Antennata?

Ok. Just called LFS.

Ordering a Fuzzy Dwarf!!

He said his supplier RARELY gets golden dwarf Moorays, but he can get snowflakes. Suggestions??

I'd avoid snowflakes, nice while they're small but once they get bigger they tend to be aggressive. I haven't had any problems personally but Greg as mentioned it a few times and I've read a couple other places about them taking chunks out. Just watching mine feed I can see how it could "accidentally" nab one of the other fish.

Fuzzies are a ton of fun I really enjoy mine.

Thanks :)

LFS owner called to add a fuzzy to his order and it should be in town Friday! Going to let them keep him all weekend though to make sure he shipped ok.

So what would be a good suggestion for an eel then besides the golden and the snowflake?

Hmm did some more reading and I guess an Antennata is very shy???

Our P. antennata is anything but shy, and engages in an "odd" display behavior (flared gills, partially extended mouth), but it really doesn't seem to be a warning as much as it is a greeting. It will even "call" Renee by making a clicking sound if it sees her at one of the other tanks (I'm guessing it clicks its pharyngeal teeth, but who knows?).

If you like P. antennata, I'd actually suggest P. mombassae, as IME, they're more of an "out front" fish more of the time. In fact, most of the time these two fish are often confused with each other.

Very cool!!!!!

I have the fuzzy on order though. If I can't get something going with an eel, is my tank big enough to have 2 small lions?

Oh, Ashtree, what kind is that in your avatar? Very pretty!!

If you spend the time and get it to feed I really liked my ghost ribbon eel.

i love my ghost ribbon also! hes great

i would stay with the fuzzies. my little guys are awsome. they always come out when i walk up. one even shot water out of the tank while i was doing maint(water change) once

Very cool!!

I will see if he can get in a Ghost Ribbon then. Would it be ok to introduce the lion to the tank, then a few weeks later add the eel?

Well, I have done tons and tons of looking and calling. The only eels ANY stores within 50 mi of here have, are Snowflakes. And all of them looked at their ordering lists (pretty much since right after I started this thread I have had them checking) Most of the online places I have even looked at only have Snowflakes in my size range.

Would it be so bad to have a snowflake since that's all that seems to be available?

It is a gamble. Make sure you have a tight lid. Ward it for when it grows, may be a issue then.

Ok. :)

The lid on that tank covers the whole thing. Just need to get some clamps or something so it stays tight.

MY fuzzy did not come in friday like they said. Ordered one through another guy. He is putting in the new order in the morning Monday and may have it as early as mon. afternoon, or it will be Tues. He picks it up from the airport himself instead of waiting for fedex or ups to bring it. Soon as he is here and settled I promise pics. :)

Got my lion!! The eel's box was seriously damaged so unfortunately he had to refuse it. :( I should be getting a new one next wk.
