List EVERYTHING that could go wrong.

I have a recurring wet floor from tapping my RO system to fill containers for Two Part blending. LOL, I have started to fill them and walked away "since it will take a little time" and forget they are filling. This issue has forced me to set the oven timer to remind me. Now, that is not to say I have been outside during the rinnger..lol...Anyway, I have had several events of wet floors in my pump room!

This is why I'm glad my in-progress build contains a large RO reservoir with float switches and a float valve, and no real immediate purpose (other than supplying topoff, but it's way oversized for that). Hopefully, I'll be able to draw from that if I need RO, instead of tapping straight from the RO unit!

not to derail this thread but will there be a list of problem prevention?

My approach on above-mentioned build is this: build fail-safes to prevent or mitigate failures where it's either critical or cost-effective, and come up with ways to monitor for all other failures, such that an alarm can be sounded. This thread is timely because I've been stressing over whether or not I'll be able to think of every mode of failure ahead of time!

Snails/other critters getting stuck in plumbing, causing spillage

Poorly constructed rock stacks that collapse

Poorly planned sump that overflows when power is cut to the return pump

Holy cow I never realized all the things that could go wrong. I guess it's a more common thing then it feels like at the moment to lose almost everything.

Making that mistake that you just want to keep a couple of clownfish and you aren't going to go "crazy" like some of these folks and just be conservative with a small 55 gallon tank that should be cheap. $2000-3000 later I finally got a pair of clownfish in my tank.....

LMAO no doubt:lolspin:

Setting up a temporary holding tank on the floor and having your sick son sleep walk over to the tank and pee in it, right in front of you.

I realize in your situation that is not actually funny, but for someone on the outside looking in....:lolspin:

funny in the unbelievable sense not the, funny that happened to you sense.

Sorry but.....:lolspin::lolspin::lolspin::lolspin::lolspin::lolspin::lolspin::lolspin::lolspin::wildone:

Oh trust me, after the initial shock, I was laughing my rear off.

The thing is, I had a very bad string of events. First I had a Kalc OD, then about a week later my tank sprung a leak, hence the temp setup. After posting the other two disasters, I was afraid people would call me a liar if I said my son whizzed in my temp tank.

my best is :idea: hob skimmer leaks onto power strip in a rush to shut all power off, go and grab the power strip! zap!!!!! 110v is not much but it is enough!!!
