little bugs or something....

I just shot this video. What are the little white bugs on the back glass wall of my aquarium? The reason that I noticed them is that I just put in a new Catalina Goby, and he's developed some white spots that I thought may be ich. These bugs may or may not be related, but what are they? They look like really really tiny fleas...the way they hops around and all.

I know that I need a quarantine tank. This may force my hand....

not ich they don't move around on glass like that. i've had those too when i first started out my tank and a few months later they'd be at a much smaller population. my guess is some kind of copepod like aquaph8 said

Did the white spots start showing up on any of your fish? That's why I started exploring further to begin with - my little Catalina Goby has white spots. I'm trying to get a pic, but my lights are simulating "night time" and the little sh** won't come back out! :)

What temperature is your tank? Catalina gobies are cool-water fish and won't last long at higher temps normally associated with reef tanks. I don't know if that's the source of your problems, but I would address that first.

+1 on the temp for the Catalina goby. In fact, there has been some supposition that warmer temps trigger some type of irreversible degradation in these fish that is not clearly understood. This was observed because specimens that have been treated as tropicals still sicken and die even after being returned to proper temp conditions.

As for your bugs, the only pods I know of that swim that fast are live mysids, so I'd say that's what you have. Take a really close look at them...do they look like tiny shrimp?
