I just got it today but they didnt pack heat packs so the water was cold. I stuck a probe in there and the temp read 69.8 degrees F. I followed there acclimation instructions to a T and the mouth is as big as the nem itself. Is it going to be ok?

I dont want to put it in my tank if it is going to melt.

I will post pics in a minute.

Drfoster smith did the same to be about a month ago with a purple bubble tip. The water was 63 degrees when i got it and them nem died three days later. If i was you i would post under their forum on RC and check out mine. Its crazy the weather is no where near warm enough to ship without heat packs..

I keep hearing more and more about them doing this.

I've shipped RBTAs where the heat packs have failed (they need oxygen to function, and when they use it up, they go cold until they get more) and the clones were pretty cold, but they came through fine (lookewd pretty bad, I'm told, but perked back up).

Good luck,
Kevin

I'm surprised bc just FME, liveaquaria's usually been really good about their packing ... now I'm worried bc I'm expecting some rhodactis shrooms from them later on today ... I guess the one good thing is I live in so. CA, where it's like 80 today ;) But yeah, if they don't do well, definitely give them a call. Their customer service has been superb to me so far :)

I did give them a call and they rectified the problem pretty quickly. The nem was beautiful on their website. I hope they are able to get another one that matches the beauty of this one.

That sound crazy. I just order a leather toadstool from them and in boston its about 12-32 here. I hope I get heatpacks and about your question. I think it might recover if you give it some time. I've had that happen with my bta and I just left it alone in the tank and it slowly replenished... then i moved it to a rock where it stays there now.

That one thing abotu ordering this time of yr, Im in colorado and man its up and down with temp. Get reddy for work coveralls and the whole bit, by noon back to pant and a short sleeve. So with that said weather can be way differnt depending where you are and where the corals are coming from. Good luck hope your anemone make it im pulling for ya:bum:

no they just refunded my account which i am fine with as i dont like any of the nems in the divers den at the moment. I am trying to organize a group buy in Orlando at the moment and hopefully they have one that I like when I order.

I think there is a good chance your anemone will be okay. How is it looking now? BTA's are quite hardy.

yesterday, the mouth is closed but protruding if that makes any sense... today it is in hiding so I cant really tell

It's funny that they don't pack w/ heat packs.. last time I ordered something from them, I made sure to put that I wanted it in the comments, but the shipment came from their facility in Wisconsin (I believe that's where Liveaquaria is out of)...shouldn't it be standard practice if it's coming from a place that's cold?

I agree especially if they watch the weather so intently. They should have seen that nowhere around them was going to be higher then 50*. No sense in beating a dead horse though...

I got a look at them mouth of the nem this morning and it looks like it is holding a rock in its mouth. I will try to get a picture of it, but it is at a weird angle.

starting to **** me off. It seems like its happening more and more. Sometimes i feel like maybe these anemones are in ok shape and they just ship them out anyways and use no heat packs on purpose.

More and More people are coming out of the woodwork.

I had recieved a BTA also from them with no heat packs and the nem did not make it either. I dont understand why they use heat packs either. I think they would loose less of their livestock this way. At least offer they should offer option to purchase heat packs for the order. Especially during these months. I have requested it on the comments but they did not use them.

LA's customer server is probably the best in the business. I too find it odd that no heat packs are added this time of year.

Working for an LFS I've seen many a dead fish from wholesalers not properly packing the fish or adding heat packs when the weather cools down.
