Long gone are the days.....

Wife's workin' 12 today and 12 tomorrow. Means Cully is Mr. Mom with a 3 month old. In the past if I had the entire weekend to myself, there'd likely be a trip to Rochester in there. Or, at the very least a tank overhaul.

Usually my wife would walk in at 7:30 and say "Jeeze it smells like low tide in here!!!" And me with a dumb look on my face, shirt sleeves soaked with salt rings, and a huge pile of pruned Halmeda in my hand.

This little chick is a handful. All I can do is stare at the tank wishing I could get my mitts in there. She took a nap today for a couple hours. I ran up and down the stairs as I franticly did a long overdue RO filter change before she woke up.....it's getting rediculous!!!

I'm sure it'll all be worth it. Watching her grow has its rewards beyond words. But, it'll be nice when I can give my tank its due attention again....Gotta go, she's flipping out in the Baby Bjorn as I type....:fun5:

I have 3.........now they are older and the youngest goes to Kindergarten and the oldest becomes a Sophomore.....before you know it they are all grown up.

I was stay at home dad for 4 years after my youngest was born. Wait a few more months and she won't be taking the naps and you will not even get the little time you have now. Then there will be school and soccer and dance and T-ball and gymnastics and piano and ... and then boys :worried:

I wouldn't give any of it up for anything. Greatest part of my life is being a dad. Enjoy every minute, they grow up fast.

And then they become teenagers!! :furious: My son isn't bad but my daughter!! Anyone with a teenage daughter knows exactly what I'm talking about. Trust me Cully, they are much easier when they are little. :D

You're doing good so far Mark. I have my 6 month old daughter and her naps are getting shorter and shorter, ugh. I know what you are talking about but soon she will be helping you with the maintenance. She will do anything to help Daddy, that will be the best part!

My 2-year-old is sleeping in my left arm as I type this, and he is the best thing to ever happen in my life - I would give up all my tanks if I had to, but luckily I am a "night owl" and tend to work on things late at night! Plus, he loves my tanks and already wants to help when I do water changes - well, more like play in the buckets!

my four year old, Liam, is the biggest part of my life. Plus, with how active he is...it really doesn't give me much time to mess around in my tank..which is probably why everything is finally growing.

i gotta say that having my son here with me is the best thing i ever did for him and me. long drawn out custody battle and a small fortune later i would have done 10x that if need be. i know what you mean about not having the tank time but it gets better as they get older. or not my son is 9 now and he still loves to be in the mix when ever im in the tank, rarely wants to help where actual work is involved but he does do a great job with the glass magnet and holding hoses so water dosent get on floor. i think my wife pays him for that behind my back......... lol......

or you could wait like i did...then your oldest can babysit the youngest.....hmmm...or not...it blows my mind sometimes that i can go out dancing with my daughter and come home and listen to a baby monitor.....my brain just can't wrap around this concept yet...i've been trying for almost 5 years......

Brogeeeeeee.... I feel for ya.
Trinity is the same way. My only solace is that her mother only brings her here to the shop for about 2 hours a day, and I run around behind her wiping little paw prints off the tanks.
Joy is her face as she runs tank to tank looking at asking "Wha's that".

My little 8 year old begs to come "Work" which means bug the crap outta me all day.
But the love of the tanks has passed to them.

Gone are the days when freedom reigned.......

Enjoy her bro. The tank will be there when you get back.

I also agree HAVE ANOTHER, but wait a few years! I have a 9 year old and my daughter was just born on the 6th! Nothing better !!!

Nothing gives me greater joy than watching her grunt out a dump. Funniest thing I've ever seen!

The wife and I are hot to have a second soon. We're not what I'd call "infant people". We're just kind of dealing with this phase. We want to be out of diapers sooner rather than later, especially because I'll need to start wearing them myself in a short time I'm sure. We absolutely love our child, and do want a second.....but we still hate everyone elses children. So, I don't feel bad if you hate my kids.
