Some of the folks there are in need of attitude adjustment. Remember I'm the customer, and your not doing me a favor.
Country Critters has the same problem. They think they are the only pet store around. Quite independent! I've walked out of the store after waiting to be helped more than once. But the last time really got me angry especially with the situation I ended up with.
The store was pretty empty. I was asked if I needed help after looking at all the fish a couple of times. I said yes and asked what is the price of this fish. The sales guy said he was from the freshwater area and didn't know but would get me some help. After a couple of minutes I heard John being paged for additional help. I waited at least ten more minutes without anyone showing up. I left the store in disgust to do some of my other errands and didn't now if I would go back.
After twenty minutes of cooling off I went back to see if I could get some help. I walked into the fish area and the same sales person asked if Jonathan had helped me. I said "no" and that "I was just returning after leaving the store". About a minute later, Jonathan (the store owner) came over to help me. I asked the price of the fish and then decided to buy it. He quickly bagged the fish and I was on my way.
A week and a half later the fish went from the quarantine tank to the display tank where he made his tank mates nervous. Two days later he took the bottom third off an other fish's tail, up to the body. He was very aggressive and could stay in the tank. After moving him back to the quarantine tank I went back to CC and asked if they would give me a store credit if I brought him back.
Their answer was that they 'don't take back fish since some come back with diseases". I acknowledged the problem but was kind of p'ed off after spending a couple hundred dollars there in the last two months and expecting to do the same in the next couple of months. After thinking about the situation for a second I decided I didn't want to do business with this store any longer.
I said thank you, turned around, and started walking out. When I was about twenty feet away the salesman said that they would take the fish but they wouldn't give me a credit. I was even madder at that statement as it contradicted the reason he just gave me. The compatibility problem may not have been their fault but the handling of it was. If I was to give the fish away it wouldn't be to them!
That was the last time I was in the store and I won't be returning. I can tell you that Jonathan didn't learn his customer service when he worked at Aquahut (for a few years?). I'm sorry I ever gave them any business. Shame on me for not patronizing Aquahut where I've been a non-loyal customer for the last six months of thirty years.
P.S. Aquahut gave me a credit for the fish!
