looking for anemone that will host a chrysopterus and sandaracinos pair. I have RBTA's which chrysopterus will go into but not the skunk. I heard sebae's are a good host but hard to care for, any other options?
I've had sandaracinos reside in a haddoni, although risky. I have seen images of them on a BTA but mine never did. H. crispa wasn't a hard anemone to keep IMO. Stayed put, got big, stayed happy, and it was my first anemone. Never had experience with H. Malu though.
Ashamed to say it was bleached when I got it, and in a nano cube with PC lighting. My first tank we all did silly stuff. But with feedings it colored up and outgrew my tank.
And I don't blame you on the haddoni. They are straight up murderous creatures haha.
Mertens and crispas would be the two best as they are preferred hosts for both species of clown. If it were me and I was in a hurry, I would just order a large crispa from Liveaquaria. You could also have your LFS order a medium to large to large one out of one of the Los Angeles wholesalers. A lot of times they come in bleached but as long as they still have the extended tentacles, they can be saved pretty easily. It's the ones that have the shrunken tentacles that I usually avoid, just because they tend to take a lot more TLC to get them to recover.
