Looking to setup FOWLR

I just rejoined FMAS for the frag swap a few weeks back, but I've been running nano tanks for years. I finally have the space and budget to start up a larger tank again. Would prefer 180G + and thinking FOWLR. Been looking on craigslist, eBay, etc but it seems people are either selling old junk or a fully established reef tank. Had the pleasure of touring Living Color on Tuesday and was really impressed with what they do but their smallest setup is $12K+. Any recommendations/feedback?

prowl the forums for the right deal

Thanks Jackwkahn.

Classifieds on RC? I still need to meet the post minimum for RC so I will work on that. Any other recommendations or LFS that sell used setups? For those of you with larger tanks - did you buy everything new?

Tanks come up on FMAS all the time, keep an eye out, and comment on other ppls questions etc u will have plenty of posts soon enough! also try craigs list, funny we all say im gonna have fowlr maybe a few softies, and bam a few months later its almost all sps and lps lol its Addicting as im sure you know from your nanos!

I know and I can see the temptation there on the FOWLR to add coral. I'm going to keep the NC28 going and hope to contain my "reef tank" to my current setup. Looks like some FS posts on FMAS' group as well so I will keep cruising along with CL, eBay, etc...

Thanks for the feedback!

Just keep an eye out, recently there have been a few 150-180g that have been for sale for a steal.

Classifieds are kind of hard because people don't deal with shipping tanks. Keep checking CL and FMAS. You will find one eventually.

180

180

I have a 180 for sale on here. If you are not interested in the anemones and the few corals I have, I could get rid of them to someone else. Take a look at my post and let me know if you are interested.

Thanks,
Kevin

You can PM me.

Thanks ARC. I saw your posted tank and it looks like a great deal - I'm really looking for a drilled tank with a darker stand/canopy but will def keep you in mind.

Check out aquarium butler, send them an email and they will get you back with a quote.

I sent an email to Aquarium Butler last week and never heard back. Any other recommendations out there for a relocation service for a 180+?

Thanks...I'll keep that in mind. Now I just need to find the right tank. My brother is coming into town at the end of the week and he is also and avid fish guy. We will be getting aggressive on the search this weekend. Would like to have tank purchased and moved while he is here to help.

Check out living reef in lauderdale on Dixie south of commercial. Good store and they have so much used equip in good shape it is like craigslist in person.
