Losing Connection to APEX

Ok, this has happened now for the second time. I go to check my app on my phone and it cannot connect. Then i try to connect via the IP address and says "page cannot be found" (all from outside my network). Then i get home and the unit itsself is working fine, lists pumps, everything working fine. Try to connect to the unit LOCALLY, and i still cannot connect.

Last time this happened i tried to connect to the unit locally from my PC not my mac and it worked so i thought that accessing it through a PC help (but had previously rebooted the APEX unit). Well this time accessing it through the PC did not help so i rebooted the APEX unit and after about 5-10 mins i was able to connect to the unit local and from outside my network.

Im not 100% sure if i rebooted my router this time as well so im not sure if rebooting the router or the APEX solved the issue.

Can anyone give me some input? Im leaning towards an issue with the APEX since when i lose connection to the unit i still have access to the internet so i dont think the router is the issue.

You're not alone... others have experienced this. Rebooting the Apex resolves it.. until it happens again. Call Neptune support, and lend your voice to the gang needing a permanent fix for this problem.

same issue today ...

real problem as i am going away ... when you say reboot ? unplug the usb to the controller did not work ... what now?

I am having the same problem. Check the IP address. The system randomly resets it's IP address so you can't acess it. Nasty little bug I hope Curt is on it.

I think you are experiencing something else. The problem which seems to be recurring for some is that that web service simply quits working until the controller is restarted. The IP address doesn't change.

Is DHCP disabled in your Apex?

THis may not be your problem but... I still say that there is a bug in the DHCP lease renewal. If you use DHCP then you will likely see the lease is expired.

I firmly believe that the Apex is never renewing its lease after it expires. All of my other equipment does but not the Apex.

I eventually went back to static IP for the Apex which most people seem to use anyway.

No the IP is not changing. Also mine is set to static and i have it forwarding with dyndns. Rebooting the APEX usually resolves it. Glad to see im not alone. Bad thing is that im going away for thanksgiving. hope it doesnt happen while im gone.

i have rebooted 5 times and it has not resolved. do i try to reload previous version ? do i wait for the new one, if so what is the eta?

what's the plan, I'm going away in 3 days

It was enabled. The problem is happening all the time now. I disabled DHCP. I will see if that helps.

I am going away in a few days as well. ( I am always going away in a few days actually). I am going to back up a version if I can't get mine to settle down.

I also have a problem where my web interface becomes inaccessible once in a while. I doubt that it's a DHCP lease problem, in my case anyway. For example, this morning, I receive emails fine from the apex, but can't access the web interface. I can telnet it, ping, do whatever. If the lease had not been renewed, it would simply be off the network.

It seems to point to the webserver process dying (again, in my case anyway) and not restarting. I know it's a shim, but couldn't Neptune just put a process check to restart the process if it dies (until they fix the problem anyway).

GREAT, so im away now in Naples, fl visiting my parents and i just noticed that my phone app didnt update since 5am. tried accessing it and low and behold, unit is inaccessible. Nice! and i wont be home till about sunday. something definately needs to be done about this or im returning it. Whats the point of a unit like this if you cant have peice of mind while your away?

Is this something that only certain units are experiencing or does it happen to everybody? How come more people are not complaining about thins?

i have had mine for about 6 months, only lost connection once. the reason for mine was the ip lease ran out. the dyn program was not schelued to check for a few more days. changed the interval and it has not done it since. both my router and pc check it now. running the lastest firm ware.

Has anyone tried using telnet and issuing the reboot command?

Also, you can always roll back to the previous release. I am still on 4.11_8B11 and it has been running for 73 days uninterrupted.

You should only have one updater running. Having multiple updaters, i.e. router and PC, can get your free account blocked or cancelled for "abusive updates." If you have a paid account though, this does not apply. The official software updaters check for a changed public IP address every 10 minutes; routers typically check hourly and after a reboot.

This problem has been reported sporadically for a couple of months now. It's only happening to a small percentage, as far as I can tell from observation here. But, it's definitely an issue.

I tried that earlier, said I could not establish connection. Ive never tried telnet so I might be doing something wrong. Anyone have a step by step?
