Losing Connection to APEX

Let me add my name to the list of people who periodically lose web access. There's been 2 or 3 threads on this issue in the last couple months so it seems to me like it should certainly warrant some serious attention from Neptune.

Next time I go away I plan to put my Apex on a timer to turn off for a few minutes everyday and reboot.

well .. there was a big todo about nothing ...

after a long an exhaustive, check double check, rebooting etc over the past four days ... i got lucky and i am back in.

consider me connected.

that bad thing is, i am unsure what i did to get there. i have replaced the network cable, fixed the IP and then switched DHCP on and off, rebooted three times etc. bottom line one of the above helped.

You should only have one updater running. Having multiple updaters, i.e. router and PC, can get your free account blocked or cancelled for "abusive updates." If you have a paid account though, this does not apply. The official software updaters check for a changed public IP address every 10 minutes; routers typically check hourly and after a reboot.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------thanks russ will look in to it, it has been that way for a few months now, the pc is never turned on much, it is an older on and most of my family have there own. the router i know checks everyday, not sure what the pc is setfor. i am also using no-ip as the service. account is not paid, thinking about it , every few months i get and e-mail to renew for inactivity.

Ah... no-ip. I was thinking specifically of dyndns.com. So you can just disregard my blabbering ;)

I turned my DHCP off. I am now in the lounge waiting for my flight to Abu Dhabi. I wish I had backed up a revision before I left. I didn't invest in a dozen modules so I could phone home and ask my wife how the tank is doing. This really needs to go to the top of the revision list.

I got home last night form my trip. I didnt event unplug the cable from the APEX head unit. I just went to the net set up screen and hit restart. Couple seconds later, im back up and running all the connections working from inside my network and out. I will be placing a call to neptune today when i get home.

Response from Neptune

Response from Neptune

FYI, this is the response i got from Neptune,

"Hi,
Update to the latest version of the firmware 4.11 -AA11 and the issue
will go away. The latest firmware can be downloaded from the
support->download section of our website."

I applied the update tonight, will see if i still have network issues.

i have the latest firmware and continue to have the same issue. did this resolve your connection issue?

steve

I'm still having connection problems even with the latest version. I have good connectivity for a couple of days then it stops (intra and internet). Restart is the only way for me to get it back.

Based on your previous posts, I do not think you that are having the same issue as blackthunda; it sounds like you are experiencing a different problem.

Russ,

not sure it is different. running the latest SW 4.11_AA11.

connectivity fails, i unplug and replug to the base station and it then connects and all is good. my apex is only 3 weeks old and i have not had more than 3 days when it was displaying. went away for a week and it failed. lucky enough there were no issues with the tank.

i thought i solved the issue as i perceived a bad network cable. this is no longer the case.

I've noticed that I loose the internet connection when I have too many devices logged in. I use an Iphone and an Ipad, along with my computer to access the Apex. On the Iphone/Ipad, even when you change to a new app, the Apex app remains open. Double click the main button on the device, all open apps appear at the bottom of the screen. Touch one and hold it till they start to wiggle, then you can delete all apps you don't want running. This fixes my Apex connection problems.

Earlier you said that multiple restarts of the Apex did not restore connectivity. So now, a simple restart does restore connectivity for you?

thanks for taking the time. Additionally, i believe i had a cable issue. Right now it is working.

I'm also at the latest software revision. My Apex was fine for 2 months and then Bang out of the blue this issue came along. In my case it's for sure not related to multiple connection at the same time. Neptune are logged in and looking into this. Seems like they might load a debug software version and trace the cause of this issue.

This looks promissing.
