Losing Connection to APEX

oops... sorry. I read too quickly... missed the part about through the app.

Lol, didn't know about the reboot command. Thanks. Can you recommend an android telnet app given that the ONLY use would be to send the reboot command.

Ok, cool - my screw-up was still useful :) Someone else will have to chime in about an Android telnet app. I do Apple devices... the only Android apps I'm familiar with are Henery's Apex app and - of course - Angry Birds :D

Im having the same issue!!! This will be my third time driving 4 HOURS back home from school to try and get it working again.

telnet'ing into my controller and issuing the reboot fixed the web connection problem. Well, didn't fix it but masked it for a short time. There is clearly some problem with some of our web server processes.

acasp4, you may want to configure your router to port forward the telnet port (23) to your apex as well as the web port (80) then you can reboot remotely.

Putting that into the Android App is easy but would need to be hidden in some admin area.

I have been working with apex for months. I eventually replaced my router (to one with no wireless) and the issue went away. I installed the original router and turned off the wireless and I am testing that now. So far up for several days...

I think something with the wireless network is overwhelming the nic card on the apex and it locks up. Still looking into it.

I wonder if there is anything common in those of use with this problem?

I have the problem and am on Verizon Fios, hardwired to the ActionTec router with static IP address (I had dchp at one point too but stopped that due to a problem in the Apex with DHCP leases not getting renewed).

Can those who have this problem reply with your config?

First reply I got was: I can't do any further debug with the firmware you have in the controller. You are the first to report any issue with this latest version of the firmware. All others that have contacted me were running older versions of the firmware.

Curt

And then later on:

I will build a special version of the firmware for you in the next day or two. You can then load that on your controller so that I can track down the source of the problem.

Curt

If anyone running the latest Firmware version: (4.11 AA11)

Please get in touch with Neptune ASAP and let them know about your issues.

I have the latest version and am still having the issue. I was told to update ot latest firmware and i did. Issue went away, for a couple days, or so i thought. But its been happening again. So i will copy and paste your instructions in my next email to neptune.

I am running my apex wired to the router with ethernet cable and am still having the issues. when the apex goes down my internet, wired and wireless still works fine. So im doubting its a router issue.

So I ditch my airport express and just run a hard wire straight to my 2Wire router?

I have been communicating with Curt and 4.11 AA11 was their possible "fix" to my problem. It did not...so I told him I would swap out routers and report back. I am waiting until I confirm if the wireless on or off (in my case) is the issue.

MHG simply posted his theory. Take it as that. People have reported this with full wired connections too. I highly doubt that wireless has anything to do with it.

I don't understand how wireless could be impacting those of us who are hard-wired.

I am hard wired. But when I turn off the wireless it reduces network traffic (in theory). Time will tell. I will keep you all posted...

This is going to be an intresting weekend........ I hope I get it back up working and keep it working so I have the little piece of mind of how my tanks doing while im at school...

ive been communicating back and forth with curt as well. latest suggestion from him was to test to make sure emails and alarms are working, test to see if i can telnet into the unit and open up port 23. He will be doing some diagnostics on it tomorrow. Hopefully we will make some head way, ill post back with any progress.

My apex used to lose connection until I updated the web pages when updating the firmware. Have you guys tried that yet?
