I forgot to mention that everything you see in my tank has been grown from no bigger than 1.5 inch frags.
My tank is 100% Aquaculture.

I can't resist trying to figure out the Algae issue. I switched from PCs to Halides about nine months ago. I am running DE 250w Ushio 10k like you were. With PCs, I never had algae problems. With the Halides, I'm always chasing after several types of algae. Would switching to a higher K bulb make the difference as you have suggested? I am thinking of Phoenix 14k. Anyone else ever experienced this?

There are so many variables when it comes to algae.
One major parameter that has a great inpact on algae is salinity.
Many people who have algae issues also have low specific gravity.

To solve the algae issues make sure you:

*Use RO/DI water
*Feed less often
*Raise your Ph
*Lower Po4 and No3
*Increase water flow, which will increase surface tension and increase your O2 levels while decresing Co2.

Changing your spectrum could also help you out.
In my case it was a key factor.

The Pheonix 14k's are excellent bulbs.
They are by far the best bulbs I have used.
Combined with VHO white they are a great combo.
There PAR is higher than the USHIO, but they are bluer which may help with the algae issues.

I was surprised to find that towel on the bottom of a bucket of Reef Crystals.

hmm! im thinking of emptying my new bucket of reef crystals to see if i got one to now!
