Lta ???

Can a clam and a LTA live next to each other peacefully? Is there anything that can withstand the sting? Can I have a barebottom tank with a LTA?

The tank it's in right now has sand but its reaching 4 light. I only have duel pc lights and it's not enough light. I can move it to my dads tank which is barebottom but he's running 400 watt mh sps tank. Has anyone kept a LTA alive with just pc's? Tank is 20 inchs deep. Or should I upgrade lights to a 150de mh with 2 t5 supplemental bulbs?
Thank you

Personally I would upgrade lighting.
Your Dads lighting is a tad high for LTA IMO, and hard to be sure it will sit somewhere safe in an sps dominant tank, and not sting corals.

While I would not suggest keeping the animals within 6'' of each other, they can coexist in the same tank. For the most part the LTA's and Clams come from similar habitats, nutrient rich sandy lagoons, and thereofre would be well suited to the same tank.

I would suggest a 6" sand bed with lots of small rock rubble. Regarding the lighting, it is possible to keep them under PC's, however upgrading to a Metal Halide, acclimating slowly of course, would be a good call.

I'd love to see pictures when you get things settled in!
