Update

Alright so I got back from vacation on Sunday. My tank did fine for a week with my mother just feeding twice a day. I think maybe she over fed a little because down in my over flows is a like a white blob. I think it is food that went down the over flow.

Deaths

Deaths

Sadly my new maxima clam died. I have nicknamed a snail in my tank, Mr. bulldozer, well this was funny until it bulldozed my clam upside down and it died. I also came home to my purple birds nest bleaching. I'm pretty sure I had it too high in the tank so I moved it down and I hope it didn't get too damaged.

Additions...
I added the spin stream nozzles to my return. I am pleased with them. they are a tad noisy. Do they break in and quiet down? (anyone have experience with these?)

I still have to install my MP10wQD
and I also have to install my aqua c remora still. I got this from my uncle and it is missing the rubber ring around the collection cup. so I am calling the company tomorrow to see if they will send me another one.

Lastly, I am pretty sure I do not have enough rock for my tank, I only have 13.4 pounds in there. I am not really looking to add more rock or move my structure. So... I am going to add some matrix stone too increase bacteria. I might also add some LR rubble to increase bacteria as well.

Let me know what you guys think!

Spin streams will break in and the noise will fade, you have enough rock and the live sand is definitely enough filter. I have never had a clam, I always wanted one but I heard they are very hard to keep (expert level) when it comes to water perams... Also don't put a mp10 on that tank, I have one as you know and I'm learning that it's trash for a tank. I'm thinking about upgrading to a different tank currently because of all the war stories I have heard about the tanks cracking. My LFS told me the same thing and he will get me tank at cost so I know he isn't trying to make a buck.

The mp10 is bad or the tank is bad? Upgrading isn't an option for me. So it's either mp10 or no mp10. Have you been hearing war stories with the 20's or the 16 and 24's. Because from what I have read the 16 and 24 models are cracking not the 20's

I'm hearing that all IM tanks are garbage... The glass is so thin and I heared stories of the 20 also cracking due to the glass cracking because of mp10.

My conversation with Marine Depot

My conversation with Marine Depot

For all of my followers, here is my conversation today with marine depot discussing my current issues with the mp10's and nuvo fusion tanks.

I had a pretty lengthy conversation with Ivan from Marine Depot about Nuvo Fusion tanks.
He cleared with me the earlier models like the 16nuvo and 24nuvo had a lot of cracking issues. He also stated that JBJ tanks have been known to crack as well. The person I bought the mp10 from did have a JBJ and it cracked by the mp10.

This is where its gets interesting, I was talking to him about the nuvo fusion 20's cracking and he was very surprised to hear this information. He said that the nuvo 20 gallon tanks cracking was new... news to him and he hasn't even heared of an issue like that come through marine depot customer service. Ivan also said he has an IM nuvo fusion 40 gallon tank with two mp10's and that tank has been up and running for 1.5 years. Lastly he did say he could see them cracking if the owner ran the mp10 at 100% all the time and wasn't using the correct shims.

This finally gave me the information I needed. I believe the mp10's are safe to use, but with this being my first tank and my tank being on the upper level of my house, I am going to wait for my own tank in my own house to use an mp10. I am however going to sell the mp10 and use that money to get a tunze spinstream with a controller. I hope this has helped a lot of people out. especially you reefwreak because you have seemed pretty shocked by this haha.

Once again Marine Depot delivered more than amazing customer support. They have answered every question I have asked and I usually call them around 2 times a week haha. so kudos to them. They are an amazing company and I will continue to do business with them for all my tank needs.

Thanks for posting marine Depot's reply. Sounds about the same as what I've been thinking too with nuvo tanks cracking. I still haven't seen anyone around here with the experience, and sounds like they haven't either, but without shims it could destroy the pump and the tank from heat and vibration.

Good luck with the tunzes, let me know how you like them.

How do you like the aquagadget mini max models? I think I need a skimmer and a reactor.

I have the IM mini max reactor, I love it! The first month or so i was kind of loud but now it is completely silent. Switching out media is sooooo easy with this model. You can also easily control flow by twisting media tube. I would definitely recommend the IM mini max reactor. I however do not have the skimmer!

If memory serves, using a VorTech in a pulsing-type wave mode on one of the earlier Innovative Marine tank models (back when they still used rounded corners) is where most of the problems arose. I think most of the issues were with the 16 gallon.

I actually have a 38 gallon NUVO myself with the rounded corners and I just don't have my MP10 on any sort of wavemaking mode where it would be thump-thump-thumping the glass all day. I have it set at about 80% during the day and then it goes into night mode. The main motivating factor for purchasing a VorTech for me was the battery backup. The tank's been up and running 1 year now (recent pic).

Just figured I'd add a little to the discussion since I noticed the thread this morning. Innovative Marine phased out the rounded corners a long time ago which essentially eliminated this wavemaker/tank cracking phenomenon.

Lighting

Lighting

So as you guys suggested, I am going to add some T5 lighting to my tank. I will be running a hybrid system. I will run the T5 and LED during the day while I am at work and school so they can get more spectrum for growth. and then just the LED will be on when I get home so it looks more visually appealing to me. As of now I just want to keep in simple so if you look up the sun blaster nano 24 inch on amazon that's what I am thinking of getting. let me know what you think!

My pleasure. It was a concern of mine when I initially got that tank and pump combination. It is also a topic I personally spoke with Innovative Marine about, so I just wanted to pass along my experience here!

Heres a new shot of my tank, I am kind of going through a stage of thinning out corals. I bought a lot of random coral just like because i thought they were cool at the moment. Now after awhile i kind of found out they dont fit the profile of my tank. so the corals that i have thinned out. I got rid of the purple birds nest and i am finding a new home for the green candy cane. I am 90% sure the monipora is dead. It pretty much has no color left. other than those... My euphillia trio is doing quite great.

here is the pink tipped torch coral i took in awhile ago from a tank that cracked. It pretty much had no color when i got it. But as you can see, it looks 10 times better. it fully inflates everyday and seems to be doing fine! Also i am going to the c-sea coral frag swap in cleveland. it is october 22nd. i hoping to find a rare frogspawn and a rare torch coral while i am there.
