LUNATIC FRINGE-Duel 500g tanks, 1600g total

Love the build, especially your annexation of space. My tank is in my first floor study and I have annexed most of the basement for salt mixing, chiller, closed loop pump, DI system, qt tanks, etc., etc. It is like the old Soviet take over of eastern Europe! Just provide the spouse with cash, jewels, some clothes, and keep the expansion going! In a serious note, I vote for LEDs also. I have 10 AI sol blues lighting my display and many of the excellent builds here on RC are using LEDs of one type or another. Good luck.

I'm hooked, nice details and instructions!

Just figured out how to multiple quote! Thanks...Just trying to give back to the community as I have spent countless hours of time on RC.

I have heard of coral corral but what are the other 4, me and the wife don't mind the drive from Ocala if we can make a day of it thanks Eric
PM me and I will give you the details...not sure if I can mention them on a thread or not....

sounds good cant wait for more pictures

got 10 hours into plumbing...which is taking way longer than I thought....just sitting at the computer eating my dinner but I will try and have a bunch up tomorrow night....

yeah...going with LEDs.....in fact I made a purchase of them a few days ago.....I will have details on that later.....In terms of annexation....yeah the wives may think we took over...but when we are not home and their friends are over the first thing the spouses will say is....look at MY new tank!

OK...see if I can bring some pictures up to date...I will try and follow it up with better commentary later in the week...got a bit on my plate right now...

Glued some 1/2 Styrofoam down....

Copied some of the rock design from earlier and drew it on top of the SF to help figure out where bulk heads will go for closed loop.

The difference in color you see on the wall above the stand is nothing more than gloss polyurethane to protect the walls...this is where the tank and hood will be...also did it under the stand.

Didn't get much on the actual moving of the tank...too busy helping... Originally I was going to move the tank like I did with a 1000# safe, 20 baseballs and 3 people...however, I forgot about the overflow box on the end which put the tank 2" too tall to do it... So I had to hire some local movers....took 6 of us and some straps to go up the backyard concrete stairs... Only mishap was the back balustrades when we moved the last tank separated. I basically built a type of sleigh for under the tank...then we hooked straps up and muscled it up. Once we got to the stand we just popped them on.

I used to hear growing up that the first man to climb Mount Everest found a coke bottle up there....however, I am of the belief he actually found acrylic shavings from a reef tank.....stuff is EVERYWHERE IN MY HOUSE NOW!

You have a hard choice going on there. Reef tank, TV, Other tank(forgot what tank its going to be). Three very hard decisions.

In the back ground you can see the small blue package with the grey circle..this is food grade silicone...I put it on ALL OF THE BALL VALVES....

I got tired going up and down the stairs...so I brought everything up stairs....I put a very fine blade on the chop saw to cut the PVC....

Why do you use that product? I mean the purpose behind it.

By the way...been following your build for a while....

It is basically to lubricate the ball inside of the valve....these guys will stick on you so I lube them up before putting them on. I also give them a few turns back and forth.... This will help in the future (hopefully) with a value that hasn't been turned in a while... still doing it's job! Costs about $2 bucks.

Awesome build. Can't wait to see it complete.

I'm with Newbie; you're gonna have a hard time watching the TV with those two tanks. Even if just due to the physical dimensions.
