MACNA 2010 - Orlando, FL - September 2-5, 2010

Cost Breakdown for Attendance ???

Cost Breakdown for Attendance ???

can't wait to be there...when will the one-day rates be available for purchase (no banquet/reception)? Unfortunately I cannot be there the full 3 days...though maybe i could convince the wife otherwise...haha.

I am also interested in the price breakdown. ( 1, 2, or 3 day and 1 day w/ access to lectures) I was unable to locate these fees on the web site. Thanks :fun4:

we are trying to plan our vaction, when is the itinerary for the show being released? Or at least for friday. We are trying to figure out when we need to be there. It is a 2 day drive for us to attend.

Right now we are only selling the Full Conference (3 days of Speakers and Trade show with Dinner on Friday and Saturday Night included) for $119+tax and the Trade Show and Speakers only (3 days of Speakers and Trade show but no meals) for $89+tax. (These prices good till 12/31/2009)

As we get closer to the event we will offer single day and trade show only passes but expect these to be close to today's 3 day price. So buy today to get the best price.

MACNA traditionally starts Friday at 9am with the MASNA annual meeting followed at 11am with the trade show opening for MASNA members and then the trade show general open and first speaker at noon. I can't say for 100% certainty that this will be the exact schedule but it will be very close.

I am one that has not yet been to a trade show, meet or swap (I have done a lot of research over the years), I am looking at improvements for my local fish stores and preservation that would be possible.

Missing from the prices is the 1 day with, or without lecture being made available earlier durring the offers for people out of state and new to the hobby with limited funds. Especially this year during the lack of additional funds, a 1 day special offer would allow many more people access to the show and even some that did not know they were interested.

There is no better way than to offer something to the new hobbiest than the experiance of a trade show with the knowledge that wll be available.

Please consider the advantage available to those that can not afford the cost to plan ahead for 3 days.

Tigre9, to answer your question.

As we get closer to the event we will offer single day and trade show only passes, but expect these tickets to be close to today's three day price. That's the advantage of buying a three day pass now. The three day pass will be $159 at the show and the single day and trade show passes will cost more than half of what the full registrations are now, $119. The exact prices for these tickets will be published closer to the event.

I certainly hope this doesn't discourage you from attending. And if you are coming from out of state, you will probably want to stay at least one night.

Ask others here, you will be sad to leave if you only come for one day. MACNA changes the hobbyist forever!

Is this open for the general public to go in and see the boths and thats it? I want to go but I live close by and plan on just going to see whats new and what I can buy or do I have to buy the packages?
Whats the Trade Show passes consist of?

The trade show only passes will get you into just the trade show and not the speakers or any other activities.

It's worth attending the speaker talks. The talks are informative and entertaining. The speakers are top notch - there are not many venues where you can hear (like at last year's MACNA) Julian Sprung, Scott Michael, Bob Fenner, and Martin Moe. There are also great "stealth" talks from "unknown" speakers like the presentation on pistol shrimp from last year's MACNA (and yes I am a reef geek).

With the great talks, the struggle is to find enough time to tour the trade floor.

How much is the trade show only? Website only shows trade show and speaker For $101.18

Wow. That much for the trade show. I guess I will have to pass on this, at least this year.

We haven't established pricing for the trade show only. At some past MACNAs it has ranged from $25 - $50 where at others there hasn't always been a trade-show only option available.

Then you would be doing yourself and your reef a big disservice. Forget about the "trade show" mentality and attend MACNA for what it is. You can learn from great speakers, hang out with vendors, see new products, check out some demos, and hang out with 1000+ like-minded reef keepers.

I will never understand why people miss this event. It is NOT about meeting a bunch of sellers/vendors although each year there are more and more present. They are the icing on the cake. The cake is the best part, getting answers to the things you've wondered about and the things you never even thought of.

And before you say it, yes you can read forums every single day and learn. However, you soak in so much info and the entire picture becomes crystal clear at the marine aquarium conference. Learn in three days what will help your reef for years to come.

Plus then you can come to online forums and be even more helpful to others, armed with knowledge.

Dont get me wrong, I would love to go but sometimes $$$ comes to play especially if you dont have it. My girlfriend and I have a tank each but if the cost is that much then it adds up. Hey it took me a while just to get one of your RO/DI system which by the way is still working great after a year
