hey roger was wondering if you could give me a bit of feedback before i order from md.

was looking at the Tunze Algae Magnet 18 mm (220.540)
and was wondering how thick the inside magnet was. md didn't mention

and how strong is the magnets inside of these. including whats the difference between this one and the next one down? thanks!

How big of a tank will you be using it on. 0220.53 feels quite a bit weaker in my experience but 220.54 is too much for a tank smaller than 29 gallons. Physically they are all the same size, just the magnets inside are different. They are 3/4" thick

it is acrylic and is 3/8" thick. possibly 1/2" but leaning more towards 3/8s unoless there is something in the middle. between those.

also is there anything i coudl put between the scraper to prevent scratching?

Get the 0220.54, you will want the pads for acrylic that go over the scraper, part 0220.568.

hey roger. i purchased the 220.54 and it keeps falling off?
is there anyway id be able to get a more powerful one? as marinedepot wont refund it for another one. =/ anything we could do here? as this one is a bit weaker than i had anticipated.

Are you moving it in the correct directions? As the arrows indicate it is only designed to move side to side, when moved up and down it will fall off. The 0220.55 is substantially stronger and substantially more expensive as you step up from an iron/ceramic magnet to neodymium. For glass that is thinner than 1/2" the 220.54 should definitely do the job.

it is a acrylic 1/2" tank. and yes i am moving it.
md. mentioned the possibility of it not being as strong due to storage in high heat?
(not sure why the rep mentioned that : possibly the ones there were stored improperly?)

nonetheless im hoping to exchange it for the enxt one up and pay the difference? if this is possible?

Yes, if you send it to me I will do this. Please send it complete with the packaging. If the magnets get above 120F for an extended period of time they lose strength but such an extreme is not possible in ordinary transport and storage, the only such incident I know of was a maintanence company in AZ where the guy kept them in his car. Even our warehouse never excedes 90 and it is 100+ here just about every day.
