magnifica anemone

Well for one it is kinda low in the water column, two I see LED spotlight, not sure what you have but many drop off dramatically at depth, but the bigger issue is if you are seeing it deflate, then it calls for QT and treatment.

No. When they get chewed up they release either nematocysts or a toxin into the water. Either way, it kills the fish.

It can only be nematocysts if the clownfish were the only survivors, because that's the only thing clownfish have protection against through their slime coat.. Toxins would kill all fish, including the clowns.

In my last case it killed the clowns too, my picasso pair I had for 5.5 years, gone overnight.
They were in a holding tank, I was moving the next morning, had them by my bed so I could watch.
They were fine as I fell asleep, woke next morning, opened my eyes, nothing but milky white.
I frantically scooped a net around, it was not a pretty sight what came out.
Yes, a chewed nem will nuke everything.

Sick mags seem to generally look OK for most of the day, and then deflate in the late afternoon. Absent treatment, the deflation cycles get worse and at some point it looks bad all the time. Demise soon follows.

^^ Agree, they can look wonderful, and then all of a sudden deflation, seems as lights have been on for a bit, not sure if it is something that hinders them in processing light or what.
At first sign they need to be treated, cipro should be at the ready.

I have a healthy and huge Magnifica anemone for the last 2 years. In my experience it is good to get a healthy one, but not critical, in fact, in my experience these nems are pretty hardy.

I got the anemone at a show, it had a sticky foot, but not that sticky tentacles, brought it home, it refused to stick to anything, blew up like a balloon, got caught in powerheads TWICE and shredded up pretty well. I stuck it in a basket near the surface and pretty much force fed it rods reef and fish bits. It healed, it got stickier, I put it back in the tank after a month, it stuck its foot down, and it has not moved in over a year.

It has grown significantly, is fed a silverside once a week, and is a great home to our two snowflake clowns.

good luck!

EDIT: wow. really reefcentral? I cant even post a pic that is hosted over at another reefforum? You arent the only forum, it's ok. good grief.

I'll try again:

magnifica anemone

Nope, no medication for the nem. It continues to be one of the most hardy critters in the tank and has grown quite a bit (almost starting to worry about that).
