Male Femininus Wrasse

I just wanted to share a couple of pictures of my male femininus wrasse. It's taken me 18 months to finally get hold of a good example.

The speed in which the changes from relaxed to excited colours is quite amazing.

Here he is looking chilled out.

Here he is all excited.

And here's my favourite picture of him.

Thanks for looking.

Holy moly! That's a beautiful fish! It's as beautiful as the female in it's own way. Man, I want a pair of them now. Good luck with him. Do you have the female too? If so, were you able to keep it alive for an extended amount of time?

Gorgeous either way!

Wow, I had no idea they "flashed"! Beautiful!

Thanks. I have a trio of females to go with the male. The eldest female has been in my tank for nearly 2 years. You can see one of the smaller females in the background of the second picture above, but my favourite picture of my old lady is this one.

They are beautiful, thanks for sharing! I didn't know they flashed either, that color change must be fascinating to watch.

Thanks, he's around 5 inches, so still quite small. He won't stay that small for long though, he takes mysis and krill pacifica from my fingers.

Best of luck with him. By the way, I've seen your tank thread on the forum across the pond -- very, very nice!

Wow...what's your secret in keeping them alive? I had a female once, but it didn't live longer than a month. I might have to try again...

All Anampses males similarly "flash", fwiw.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like you're the "Go to" Guy on wrasses.

Thank you. Very kind of you to say so. Feel free to drop into the thread at any time.

There's no secret apart from many feeds per day. The survival rate for fresh imports on this species is shamefully poor. The jury is out as to whether is is the method of catching, shipping or even copper in the LFS. We are starting to get better survival rates in the UK and hopefully the hobby will find a more sustainable method in the near future.

Wow, 4 specimens! Very nice indeed!

wow gorgeous

Envious. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks guys. I wouldn't normally post a "Look at my fish" thread, but I'm so pleased with him.

Absolutely stunning, I didn't know they flashed either! Fantastic work getting a group of them to be so healthy.
